going on anon cause i'm a coward of a mutual, but i went and ate out of my deficit for today. i feel like i'm improving but i still slip up at least once a week. any tips on how to get back on the horse and stay there, just like habit wise?
Go for the 80%, 20% rule.
80% of your diet needs to be on point. Fresh food eaten for nutritional value with a view of meeting your macros and calorie intake. 20% of your diet should be fun (and planned for within your goals). They call it a "cheat meal" but I don't see it as that because it's not cheating, it's a conscious choice to give your body something it needs. Because fitness is all about overall wellbeing; if you're miserable as fuck all the time, then your wellbeing isn't good. The 20% is a necessary adjustment. I'll have a Snickers bar if I want it, or reward myself with a Chinese on a Sunday.
When I know I've got a big meal coming up, I'll cut my calories a bit more on other days to balance the week. It keeps me in an overall deficit for that week and still lets me enjoy the meal with my mates.
What you're not gonna do is go "well, fuck it, I'm over so I might as well just--" Nope. You get right back on track straight away. You don't tip your entire coffee over the floor because you spilled a single drop; don't jettison your goals because you went over on a single day. Getting stuck in an endless loop of "I've fucked up on Thursday, I'll start again on Monday" is where most people fail to meet their goals.
