i know you asked for books but i am hindu and just wanted to share my Lived Experience with food related disparity š¤š
firstly the culture of fasting, most of the time done by the woman for the man, is very very prevalent. for your husband or even for your "to be" husband, in advance.
secondly there literally is a hierarchy in the way food is served and eaten. the men of the house are fed first and they eat first, only then the women. Also legit never seen a man serve women, not unless they are Hired Labour.
In general, women are expected to be more involved in the religious rituals, and you are expected to keep non vegetarianism and religion separate (like dont eat non veg on days of a specific religious event) so in that context you will find many women who make non vegetarian food for the family but themselves are vegetarian.
not sure if this is what you were looking for, or if this is interesting but wanted to share okay byeee love ya
this is super interesting, ty for sharing!! v interesting to hear abt how food and gender plays out not just in terms of specific items but in the preparation/serving as well

random but as a vegetarian lesbian feminist i think pretty often about gender/masculinity relating to food (ie steak being āmanly,ā vegetable foods and salads being āfeminineā) but i know that most of my reading/understanding is coming at that from a western/american lens.
iām very curious about food masculinities in other cultures, specifically about how/if it manifests in traditionally vegetarian non-western cultures (jain, some hindus/buddhists, etc)ādoes anyone have any readings or resources on that?

Ilya Rozanov at his first #Cens practice, being asked why he chose to move from Boston to Ottawa: āTo be closer to my gay lover, Shane Hollander.ā
[Tweet from @letsgetdrilled]
oh great another player who thinks being gay is a joke #ilyarozanovisoverparty
No one thinks Ilya's answer is serious. Twitter reacts accordingly.
letās settle this shit but do NOT reblog if youāre gonna be modest about it like a little BITCH. anyway privilege check tell me which ones apply to you: hot, funny, can dance, can do math, can spell, can drive, can cook
