Light in a Dark Corner, flower in Barren soil.

Waiting for the ferry. Surrounded by people- gay, straight, black, white, disabled; people from all different walks of life. And I’m not sure if its that I’m just extra happy because I just spent time with a very beautiful friend, but I’m serene. Something about tonight is just different. I have always been a happy soul, happy to be alive, happy to live. Tonight it was a little different, I was in a different place. I’m still happy to be alive but in possession of a piece of greater knowledge:

 I am growing- I am changing, I’m learning, and every bit of that to me is beautiful. Without being closed minded I choose what It is that I want for myself by seeing first hand what others have; I set personal standards. But most importantly I realize that though my heart has always been open, it is the most open it has ever been. I learn with each step I take and because I’m happy to learn more, I flourish. Watching people in love- watching people taking care of each other- watching people argue- its all beautiful; everyone is living. And no matter what, despite what occurs in these small moments in which I’m the voyeur in their lives, I see beauty. I see beauty wherever I go- its just how I’m wired; and that’s beautiful- that is how I choose to live my life. 

If we choose to view life by looking into the shadows of it first, were not really looking at all.
