#Repost @girls_autistic_journey_ (@get_repost) ・・・ Is there such a thing as FEMALE AUTISM? No! ‘Female representation of autism is a load of hoopa!’ Anyone who thinks there’s a female type and a male type of autism is very mistaken. Anyone who promotes this idea is not doing either genders a favour. There is autism. And then there are gender roles imposed by society. End! Females autistics are female humans who behave as female humans are brought up to behave. Male autistics are male humans who behave as male humans are brought up to behave. Gender is a thing society decided on long before today and it is a thing that grows and changes with each generation. There are autistics and other humans who don’t buy into the gender notions decided by society so to suggest there are specific types of autism depending on gender only prove to segregate the community further, to feed into myths and to perpetuate the ideas that are damaging to all autistics. Females on the spectrum mask but so do their male counterparts. Autism is autism, females don’t ‘present’ differently it’s just that as usual women go under acknowledged. The ‘experts’ built a diagnostic criteria based on male behavior while forgetting that females are encouraged to behave differently- instead of owning this the ‘experts’ then decided it was females ‘ability to mask’ or sneaky way of ‘blending in’ that prevented them from being identified in the first place. Yes that’s it.... female autistics sneaking around, masquerading as ‘normal’ folk .... nothing to do with the diagnostic being a ridiculous failure to begin with!! #differntthinking #autism #autistic #femalesareautustictoo by @ausomecork https://www.instagram.com/p/Br1TSGgj1vbmiJjyf94tM2TZBEhwDwwwZPFlcM0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ciioijcpp1wf
