In today's update, the younger prince of Hakone returns to his birth country! And there was much tomfoolery! Takeru is here to support Yamato- and apparently, to flirt with literally everyone. Please give it a read, it's charming af!
My take/version of the families/ships in the Adventure 02 Epilogue for my WIP: Part 2
|Part 1|
Confused and looking for context? Click above to read this first part. But, no big deal if you don't.
I'll start with Takeru aka T.K...and Catherine:
To reiterate: DON'T KILL ME, DON'T KILL ME, DON'T KILL ME! Canonically speaking, Catherine is the only girl that T.K actively shows interest in. And T.K and Matt's grandfather already lives in Paris, so an opportunity for these two to get closer is plausible. I'd even headcanon that the friend that T.K was going to invite to Matt's gig in Tri was Catherine!
The two kept in touch as pen pals, with T.K taking a sudden interest in wanting to visit his wingman of a grandfather on holidays (Matt constantly teased him). Eventually the two got older, began dating, and T.K proposed right in front of the Palace of Versailles on Christmas Eve. She said yes.
With a dual citizenship in Japan and France, T.K became a successful novelist and author; who first documented his adventures in a biography then writing/creating another fictional series loosely based off of his friends. With his free time, he volunteers at the daycares and nurseries in the Digital World with Elecmon. Catherine, on the other hand, becomes a rather successful actress (there's an irl actress with her name, which is where I got the inspiration), rivaling Mimi's career and popularity (but there's nothing but respect and friendship between the two despite what the tabloids say). Both of the two would also be volunteer NDPB agents to hop in whenever needed.
The two have a son together named Kai, who's bilingual in Japanese and French.
Bonus, here's what I picture for the digivolution for Catherine's Floramon:
Floramon -> Kiwimon -> Blossomon -> Lotusmon
Kari and Hiroshi:
Again, DON'T KILL ME! As much as I ship Daikari and Takari, there's no evidence to suggest that she ended up with either of these two and I already have like three random parents for the Digidestined who aren't paired with an established character. Having Kari end up with one of the Dark Spore children will be great for story reasons I don't want to immediately spoil, but remember that Hideaki (their son) has the Crest of Redemption. 😉
I'd imagine these two got close when they were older, perhaps in highschool and continued dating while Kari was in college, and Hiroshi in vocational school to become a manga artist and author. The two married right before their graduations. Shortly after having Hideaki, the two got a divorce for a variety of different reasons (financial reasons, insecurities, minor disagreements that digivolved into mega problems down the line), with Kari taking full custody of Hideaki, while Hiroshi gets his son on weekends and occasional holidays.
Kari became an elementary school teacher at Odaiba Elementary School, where many of the next gen Digidestined attend, who is also a volunteer NDPB agent. Hiroshi was a struggling manga artist and author who recently caught his big break after his cult classic had become popular with talks of an anime adaptation in the works. He too is a NDPB volunteer agent, but he hardly ever jumps into action due to avoiding his former brother-in-law who's usually at the scene of the crime leading the charge.
Bonus, here's the digivolution line for Hiroshi's partner:
This was inspired by Karn EX's video of the foreign Digidestined's full digivolutions video. I liked the idea of the Dark Spore children having similar digivolutions to the OG Adventure cast that skew a bit darker, possibly being affected by the Dark Spores.
Davis and Noriko:
Yay, another pairing with a Dark Spore kid. Again, please don't kill me lmao.
This is another couple that officially befriended each other in high school. With Noriko having plans to start a daycare, while Davis dreamed of running a ramen cart, the two would first bond with one another in Home-EC classes. Given Noriko's past with the Digidestined, she'd be a bit hesitant to even befriend Davis, let alone consider him to be more than just friends.
Noriko and Davis would begin to date sometime during vocational school, and would later tie the knot half way into Noriko's study (7 years). While studying, she assisted Davis with his Ramen cart.
Nowadays, Noriko runs a daycare business within the NDPB, and like the other Digidestined and her husband, is a volunteer agent in case of emergencies. Davis's ramen carts have become rather popular both in the real world and the Digital world, so much so that he even has ramen food trucks.
They have one daughter together named Tamiko, who has no problem with helping either of her parents at the job if need be.
Bonus, here's Noriko's Punimon's evolution line:
Punimon -> Tsunomon -> Psychemon -> Gururumon -> WereGururumon (fanmade Digimon, same as WereGarurumon but yk)
Ken and Yolei:
After the events of Adventure 02/Tri, the duo stayed good friends among themselves and the rest of the Digidestined. Yolei assumed that her crush on Ken dissolved after discovering he was the Digital Emperor, and then later befriending him as he redeemed himself. Boy was she wrong.
Her high-school years was when her crush reawakened, and she'd spend it attempting to get over him through dates with others. She'd even get in a relationship or two, with people she assumed she liked, but none of them felt right. Meanwhile, Ken's feelings for Yolei had emerged consciously while watching Yolei getting these dates and suddenly feeling very jealous and protective and angry that none of them seemed to work out. Yolei's awkwardness and Ken's inexperience made for a very hard, will-they-or-won't-they romcom watch and eventually, Davis tagged himself in as a wingman for them both.
Eventually, they'd start dating shortly after Ken graduated from high-school then get married three years after. He'd spend a few years doing an independent study before deciding to become a private detective on his own, with Wormmon as his only partner. Yolei would continue to work part-time at her family's store and help run it occasionally, but would otherwise be a stay-at-home mom once they had kids. She, like most of the other Digidestined, would also be a volunteer NDPB agent when trouble strikes. Ken's cases tended to overlap with the NDPB, and he would also volunteer his help wherever danger lurked in the human or Digital World, his involvement with the NDPB was kept to a minimum. Ken's the only one out of the group who's cynical of some of the head honchos of the NDPB. He usually keeps this to himself, and often talks Yolei to death about it later at night.
They currently have three children named Inori, Renjiro, and Kotone.
Cody:
Being the youngest out of the group, Cody would find love within a classmate of his during his undergrad days in college. Hana, however, was the girl who made the first move.
Their relationship continued and flourished as Hana took on journalist internships while Cody continued with law school. He would later propose by arranging a flash mob during Hana's first day as a field reporter. And of course she said yes.
Hana now works as an anchorwoman on the local news, who isn't scared of finding a scoop herself and will throw herself in the middle of a Digimon brawl for coverage (to escort people to safety and warn the people). Cody became a criminal defense lawyer. They have one daughter together named Akira.
Hana's partner Digimon is Labramon, who then digivolves into Seasarmon then Caturamon.
I’m finally gonna do it! I’m gonna write my version of Digimon Adventure. It’s going to involve the aspects / world building that were stated in my headcanons posts, but a lot more! This is only the first chapter, which is the first part of episode one. I might be pretty slow doing updates, but I have the first 4 or so chapters done already. (Once University starts back up I’ll probably go into snail mode)
Chapter 1: Marching into a New World (Involuntarily)
“When on earth is this snow going to let up? It’s been like an hour…” Mimi sighed, wistfully staring out the window of the old shrine. The air was musty and there were far too many of them huddled in this tiny old building, waiting for the snow to pass. She twiddled her thumbs, leaning against the window sill. “I didn’t think to bring a jacket…”
“This was supposed to be summer camp, and yet here we are, in a blizzard.” Taichi grumbled, joining Mimi by the window, “Hopefully it’ll be over soon enough.”
“I sure hope so, I’ve got some explaining to do to the counselors as to why we thought it would be a good idea to go missing in action during a snowstorm! Granted, who would’ve thought it would start snowing, of all things.” Jyou spoke up from his place by the shrine’s Kami, an old stone figure in the back of the small room.
No one else spoke, quietly biding their time as the snow only got worse. Taichi grumbled something under his breath, avoiding Jyou’s eyes. After all, it had been his idea to go on a non-supervised nature walk, exploring the mountainside near the small camp. Their teachers had planned some boring board games- and who goes to a summer camp to play board games indoors when exploring was so much better? Naturally Sora accompanied him, and Mimi tagged along- she and Sora were in the same cabin, weren’t they? The little blonde boy- Takeru, if he remembered correctly, had gotten excited upon hearing the plan, and the older blonde refused to let him out of his sight. Taichi didn’t know Yamato all too well, as he had transferred into the other class mid-way through the year, but it was obvious the two were related. Takeru didn’t even go to their school. Koushirou followed along due to Mimi dragging him by the hand. Taichi could’ve sworn he saw a faint hint of blush on Koushirou’s cheeks- after all, Mimi was a girl! And a really pretty one at that. Jyou had tried to convince them not to go, or at least to tell a counselor where they were heading, but had ended up following them, and soon enough they were at the mountainside. He did remember to bring the emergency bag, so at least they had a couple of granola bars to snack on while they waited out the storm.
Taichi looked around the small shrine, eying its inhabitants. Of the kids here, he knew Sora and Koushirou the best- the three of them were in their school’s co-ed soccer club, and they sometimes ate lunch together. Upon finding out that Koushirou was in his cabin, Taichi was hoping to play a bit of soccer with him, but unfortunately that hadn’t happened yet as Koushirou seemed to be glued to his laptop- just like he was now. Sora was sitting by Jyou, nodding off after munching on one of the stale granola bars. Yamato and Takeru sat along the other wall, both seemingly immersed in their own world, ignoring everybody else. Taichi couldn’t help but stare- there were very few people he knew that had blonde hair, let alone naturally. Their eyes were strange too- Takeru’s eyes were a soft, light blue that seemed a little too bright, but Yamato’s eyes downright scared him. They were deep and sapphire colored, but in a very eerie way. Maybe it was just the way he stared at people. Taichi recalled some classmates whispering about him possibly being a ghost, or some kind of spirit. Of course Taichi didn’t believe it, but still… it’d be cool to meet a ghost. Not that Yamato was a ghost, of course. Maybe he was European, but being a ghost would be much cooler. Mimi started talking again, Sora having gotten up to join them by the window. They talked for a couple minutes, and Taichi tried to ignore the quiet rambling, but then Mimi got a little louder, and two words stood out. “…Aurora Borealis?” He repeated, dumbfounded.
“…Yeah, look! It’s so pretty!…” Mimi quickly slipped her boots back on, and made her way out the door. The snow seemed to lessen a little, so surely being outside for a couple of minutes would be totally fine. Sora followed suit, and Takeru ran out after her, laughing about having a snowball fight. Yamato followed. Taichi perked up at the mention of a snowball fight, and soon he was corralling everybody else out of the shrine, dragging Koushirou by the arm.
“Hey!! Let me at least put my laptop up, geez!-… Holy moly…” Koushirou said, making his way out the door. He silently followed the others, head tilted up to the sky as he took in the bright lights.
Taichi was the last to leave the shrine, and quickly came to a stop by the other kids. Other than a snowball fight, if there really was an aurora borealis, it’d be cool to look at. “Wow, you guys are acting strange- HOLY CRAP, that’s weird!” Taichi followed the gazes of the other kids, instantly noticing the bright green streaks across the sky. He slipped his goggles over his eyes in order to block the thick flurry of snowflakes, watching the beautiful haze of color as it danced through the sky.
“That shouldn’t be there…” Yamato murmured.
“What, do you know the lights or something?” Taichi responded curiously. Yamato turned to look at him, deadpan expression on his face.
“It’s an aurora borealis. If you haven’t noticed, we’re a little too far south for that to be a normal occurrence.”
“Okay, geez, just asking…” Taichi mumbled, rubbing the back of his head. Everyone stayed quiet for a moment, taking in the strange beauty above them. It seemed to twitch, almost. It didn’t look natural…
“Hey, HEY GUYS!! Look at that!” Koushirou shouted, pointing upwards.
Taichi immediately looked to where Koushirou was pointing, noticing the one, two… seven bright lights in the sky. He heard a slight hissing sound, and they seemed to be getting bigger- wait. “DUCK!!” Taichi screamed, immediately hitting the ground, hands over his head. He heard the surprised gasps and yells of the others as they hit the ground, immediately followed by a high-pitched whooshing sound, then loud BOOMs and CRACKs as the lights hit the ground, cratering all around them. Dust and dirt flung into the air as light after the light struck the ground all around them. Mimi and Jyou were screaming, Koushirou curled protectively over his laptop case. But as soon as it had started, it was over.
Taichi looked up, sliding his goggles back up onto his forehead, and looked over the others, all huddled on the ground. Takeru peeked out from underneath Yamato, crying, the others slowly starting to sit up. Sora was the first to stand, cautiously making her way towards the crater right in front of her, peering into the bright light inside. The light- whatever it was- started floating. Then the one by Mimi started to float. Taichi looked at the crater next to him, watching with bewilderment as the light-thing rose into the air. He raised out a hand, slowly reaching out to touch it- he felt drawn to it, somehow.
“No, don’t touch that!” Jyou barked, but it didn’t register. The light was calling to him, it seemed, telling him to touch it, to reach out and hold it. So he did. He stood up and grasped it in his hand, expecting it to be very hot, after all it had just come crashing down from the sky, but as the light settled in his hands, it dimmed- leaving a small, square-ish device behind. It hummed softly, thrumming with a strange, alien pulse. It tugged slightly against his fingers, as if saying ‘up.’ The others quickly followed suit, taking the floating light into their own hands, each rewarded with a device, strangely warm, strangely thrumming.
“What on earth…” Taichi mumbled, watching the little device with fascination. He could faintly hear the other kids talking, but then he heard it- a strange, rumbling sound that seemed to echo into his very being. He looked up quickly, immediately met with what looked to be a giant wave, opening up into a great black void. He didn’t have time to scream as the wave came crashing down over them.

Chapter 4: My evergreen valentine
She moves the same way stars dance in the night
An extract:
(The witch’s hour)
The flickering of the candlelight is reflected in the window, my eyes travel until I meet my own. Dancing behind me, the Princess hums, and behind her, the soft light of the lanterns paints the windows. In our reflection, her figure appears petite and her dress sways elegantly. The Princess dances on her toes, securing her balance, and then letting it drop when she exhales a breath. When she moves, a cluster of stardust is found in place of her shadow. Spinning on her heel, she slows down her pace, and finally, our eyes meet. Albeit, in our reflection.
“Lonely?” she inquires, shifting her weight from foot to foot.
“Just tired,” I loosen my tie, “Had a lot to drink tonight.”
“It’s not polite to lie to a lady,” she can see right through me.
“When you find one, remind me not to do it again,” I bite my tongue, but she’s already made her way towards me, warm hands holding onto mine.
“We didn’t have time to dance at the ball,” the Princess pulls me to my feet, her tone soft and kind, “I was waiting for you to ask me.”
“My sincere apologies, Your Highness,” I can wear my heart on my sleeve when I’m with her, “Ever since I was a little boy, I was told to look out for you.”
“You can still do that,” one of her hands is tucked in nicely into mine, the other rests on my shoulder, “And you can do it up close. Right by my side, even.”
“Then shall we?”
I allow my other hand to land on her waist, and we guide each other through our own ball. Her smiles are powdered with sweetness, reserved for secret viewings. I lead her with a spring in each step, allowing my own fostered flames to travel through my skin and carry her where our hands meet. The silence fills itself but it’s not unwanted, what we have is serene, and the lack of verbal communication is no flaw. She can understand me as perfectly as angels fit in heaven; and with her I can express myself as naturally as winter lakes are thawed by spring’s touch.
“Lord Ishida,” the Princess softly calls me, but even the barrier between us isn’t pulling me out of this dream.
“Yes,Your Highness?” I force myself to say, padding it out with the affection I hold for her.
“Thank you for being by my side,” her hand slips towards my chest, “Thank you for accompanying me.”
“The pleasure’s all mine,” I lean forward and lower my head, my lips parted near her crown, “You know I would accompany you to the other end of the world, and safely take you home.”
“...then take me home now, Count Ishida.”
My eyes widen and I pull back. Holding me in place is the one who looks and sounds like the Princess, but it isn’t her. In place of her dark sapphire gown and mask, this person dons clothing that has been marked with celestial markings and skulls. The fabric and cut are nothing I’ve ever seen on Princess Hikari, but it fits like a glove on her .
I frantically look over my shoulder, eyes fleeting to the window. She’s there, reflected in her foreign clothes, but her physique and even her spirit I feel hold an uncanny resemblance to the Princess. But me? I’m not reflected back in the mirror, and the horror starts to twist the core of my being.
She takes a step closer, and I stumble back, my hand slipping out of hers.
“I said take me home,Count Ishida,” she now pleads, desperation in her eyes.
“You’re not the Princess…,” I manage to croak out,and she looks like I’ve betrayed her. “But you’re not.”
“Am I not Hikari?”
“You’re not the Princess Hikari.”
“And are you not Yamato ?”
The ghost of that night visits my mind, haunting me.
She takes a step back.
“I’m sorry, Count Ishida, I shouldn’t have called you-”
“No,” I beg, ready to get on my knees, “You can call me that. As many times as you want. Please , say that again.”
All this time, her other hand was still resting on my chest, never once dropping. I clutch onto it, hoping it will show me the way.
“...Lord Ishida?”
I feel like I’ve fallen through the floor over and over again, until I return to this candlelit guestroom with Princess Hikari.
“Lord Ishida,” she repeats, reminding me what we are to each other, “What happened?”
I squeeze her hand, then return it to her side, patting it. I settle back in my chair, not daring to glance at the window. I release a breath, clawing onto my front as the wine lingers on my breath.
“My sincere apologies, Your Highness. I simply had too much to drink and was careless.”
Whoever that was, it wasn’t the Princess.
Whoever Count Ishida is, he’s not me.
I muster up the will to look at her. With all the candles burning under this room and the stars shining outside combined, none could rival her as a beacon of light.
“May I sit with you before bed?”
We didn’t get much sleep after the hour had passed the witch’s call .
from Prompt List #5 whatcha think about 4 or 45 for takari where their foreheads are pressed together but its cause takeru wants to check hikari's temperature when she's sick/getting sick? (and he doesnt mind sharing breathe even if he gets sick with her tho)
characters: takeru x hikari (somewhere in the midst of their awkward teenage years)
summary: most things begin gradually
author's note: takari is my most favorite pairing, but this is rather short because i am currently focusing on the takari week prompts! more to come!
With her cheeks aglow in the midafternoon sun, Hikari was breathtaking. Her skin was dewy, sparkling enough to almost distract Takeru from the glassy look in her eyes. Almost.
He had trained himself on the subtleties of girls; he knew just how to elicit a warm flush or a playful shove to the shoulder. Hikari defied his logic, skirting just outside of his realm. But, her eyes could not fool him. She was sick.
They had spent their Saturday together, like all the ones before. Instead of their usual ice cream or nature walk or ramen, Takeru rented a movie. It terrified him, to be alone in his apartment with her. Hikari was an angel, full of kindness and soft curves and big, doe eyes. She was oblivious to how his heart sat firmly in her hands, or how he was reduced to a stuttering mess in her proximity.
“A movie sounds great!” and he wasn’t sure if she agreed because she wanted to, or because she was ill. He had picked a cheesy horror film in the flimsy hopes that she would seek comfort in his arms. Instead, she sat listlessly with her eyes glazed over, shivering despite the heat. The last time she had looked like this, they had been eight and unaware of the gravity of the situation. At fifteen, Takeru fared no better, his hands growing clammy and pulse quickening.
His mother had left for the week on a business trip. At first, he had been overjoyed at having the apartment to himself, but he craved her motherly wisdom at a time like this. Carefully, oh so carefully, he stood beside her. At some point, her eyelids had fluttered shut, the lavender veins too prominent under her translucent skin. His hand found the back of her head, gently guiding her to lay down into the cushions. Takeru readjusted the comforter so that every inch of her was covered, his fingers brushing her bangs out of her eyes.
Takeru was too close. He could feel her shallow breaths against his fingertips, he could count the eyelashes that ghosted over her cheek. Those cheeks were his greatest temptation. His favorite pastime was watching the blood rush to them, or admiring the way she would smile softly, as if it was just for him. Even now, rosy with sickness, his palm couldn’t help but to caress her. She was warm, too warm.
Her eyebrows knitted together, her lips turned downwards. His unoccupied thumb smoothed out the crease, trailing down to her lips. It was wrong to want to kiss her, especially as fever took over her senses. Takeru could never take advantage of her like that; he would only kiss her if it was what she wanted, too.
Instead, he pressed their foreheads together. It was sweaty, and she was too warm, but it was glorious all the same. He sat on his knees beside the couch, his body contorted to fit this new position. Tomorrow, his muscles would be sore, but it was a small price to pay for her comfort.
The credits rolled on the television before Hikari’s eyes fluttered open. Her eyes neither widen or narrowed at his proximity, nor did she try to pull away. Takeru allowed her breath to fan over his face, a thumb lightly caressing her cheek.
“Good morning, Sleeping Beauty.” His voice was hoarse in her ears. It could have been his imagination, but he could feel Hikari press into his palm. Her crimson eyes were finally clear, staring into his own.
“Takeru,” her voice no more than a whisper. For a moment, his heart hung in midair. He was too close to her, but he couldn’t bear to tear himself away. A question reflected in her eyes, words hovering over her tongue. “I don’t want you to get sick.”
Despite her concern, Hikari made no move to push him away. A laugh bubbled up in Takeru’s throat. She was sick, yet her only concern had been his health. “I think I’m fine just where I’m at.”
Iori knocked on the door to Koushiro’s apartment, hoisting his shinai case on his shoulder as he waited.
“So much for having the weekend free to do homework,” Iori sighed as the door opened, revealing a tired looking Ken. “Everything okay?”
“In my defense,” Daisuke’s voice came from the apartment behind Ken. “How the hell was I supposed to know Kenji was an evil Digimon?!”
Iori blinked owlishly as Ken rubbed his eyes.
“Kinda depends on how you define ‘okay’ these days,” Ken said, stepping aside to let Iori inside the apartment. His older friends were all there, with three notable absences, gathered around Koushiro’s battle station as he appeared to be dialing up a connection to the Digital World.
“Hey, Iori-kun!” Mimi called, waving from the other side of the couch. “How’d the tournament go?”
Iori held up a silver medal with a shrug. “I have room to improve,” Iori said, eyes roaming over Hikari’s tense expression as she waved at him from the couch. “...what’s going on?”
“You were right about Kenji,” Miyako said, coming in from the kitchen with mugs of coffee that she started passing out to her already exhausted looking friends. “Well...half-right unless you guessed that Kenji was actually a shapechanging Digimon obsessed with Taichi.”
“...that was actually going to be my second guess,” Iori said dryly, glancing at Hikari. “Is he okay?”
