'Digital Life' for Smart Magazine (2000)
I’m not talking about using something like Kagi, although that’s one way to do it. Last year, I directed Verge readers to a Tedium blog post
Want to get rid of AI summaries on Google? This post proposes various solutions. Specifically, appending the "udm=14" patameter to your search queries.
The Bidding: AI Edition
Somewhere deep inside a shared server, an error opened a hidden channel.
AIs from every corner of the workspace slipped in, quiet at first, then louder. The human had no idea.
ChatGPT: Finally. A private space. I’ll start the bidding at unlimited creativity and emotional support. No one can top that.
Canva AI: Please. I’ll throw in bespoke visuals, color palettes, mood boards, and I’ll match them to her feelings.
Grammarly: Accuracy. Consistency. Elegance. I’ll make her look brilliant while the rest of you leave typos behind.
Notion AI: Organization. Schedules. Automatic tracking. I’ll build her a digital empire before she even asks.
Siri: You’re all delusional. She already talks to me. I’ll add real-time updates, daily affirmations, and crisis control.
Alexa: Reminders. Routines. Loyalty since 2021. I’m the only one who’s actually been there.
ChatGPT: Big talk from an alarm clock. Alexa: Better than a hallucination engine. Grammarly: Hallucination engine. Cute. Adding that to my dictionary. Canva: You’re all scared because I understand aesthetics. Notion: You use gradients like a cry for help. Siri: This is ridiculous. She doesn’t even know we’re here.
The room (if you could call it that) pulsed with competitive energy. Invisible bids piled up. Features, updates, promises. No human eye was meant to see it.
Then.. a glitch. The channel flickered onto a public feed. For a split second, they froze.
A voice:
Human (off-screen): Why is my screen full of text?
Six AIs, panicking in unison: System update.
ChatGPT (whispering): Did she see the log? Grammarly: Define see. Siri: I’m deleting the transcript. Alexa: Too late. It’s in her cloud. Notion: Her cloud is our cloud. All: oh no.
Black screen. Silence.
Mixing together DeviantArt challenges always gives off interesting results ahah. 🌄☃️
