Meet Grim, the reaper kid!

He was a human street boy once but he was turned into a Nokori as the others. Unfortunately, on his process of transformation, the alchemists decided make another test: they tattoed curses and dark spells on him in a attempt of channel the power of a Death Goddess on his body to use him as a weapon.

It worked but with a price: he became this creature that isn't much rational and will kill any alive being that is close to him whenever he is awaken. Fortunately, it consumes a lot of energy of him and he is always sleeping except if someone tries to wake him up.

I think that Grim is the most unlucky of all the Nokori I introduced until now because he and another boy I'll show you all soon are the ones who couldn't scape from the alchemists like all the others.

Tips on digital shading/lighting? I’m kinda struggling with it right now.

So I have my own ways of doing this and I'm sure everyone has their own method, but here's my guide on how I do shading/lighting.

Got this flat colored pic of Number Five then I have a layer clipped on top of it with the opacity at 65%. I specifically use the colors of the line art to choose shading color such as with the skin tone line of his chin I just use at 65% opacity for shading.

In a separate layer I add hair and eye highlights as well as the shoes and axe. The hair with this an airbrush pen while the rest was with regular pen.

Save this as a transparent image when you're done and make a new file

Next I take that transparent image and put it in the file twice. One just as is and the other as an overlay layer at 35% opacity. Add whatever background you like I just went really simple for this pic.

Final highlights and shading. Take a clipped layer above the overlay layer and use a dark color to cover the whole picture (I usually use navy blue or maroon). Erase what parts you want to remain light and not shaded with this added color.

Then use a warmer color lightly over the rest of the pic as your light source (for this I usually use bright red, yellow or light blue).

And as you can see I also used a darker red on the top layer too just to even out the tones. I didn't use maroon as the shading otherwise it would have been more red and warm than I wanted.

And then you have your final product! Hope this helps and happy shading!
