Today I mostly spent my time on items refactoring, to improve the way I handle some items attributes: there display order, their blocking, “force-management”, anchor and “anchorable” attributes. Now you won’t be able to anchor small items like turrets on iron supports (think of it as a scaffolding), but you will be able to build that on platforms. And it’s done more properly, so that will be much easier to change such properties, and to add other specials items.
So as i’ve still nothing interesting to show about electric items, i’ll just show you a piece of code that iterates through the whole world 1 time per second in order to compute the electric wires network. I hope I have something more intersting to show you soon!
EDIT: oh shame on me, that should be “Cell & c” and not “Cell c”. Hard to switch between C# and c++ all the time....

Today I finished the new water plants. Here is a small video in x10 speed to show you how plants adapt to their environment conditions.
As you can see in the video, when I break the dam, the normal vegetation is flooded. So it slowly dies, and is replaced by the aquatic plants that take their place, as their own living conditions are now fulfilled.
Those new plants will be useful for crafting, but more important, they make the world much more alive. And they also let the player create some farms and do some experimentation with the various air/water/light/altitude conditions requirements of each plant.

Today I mostly worked on the saving system to improve it. Thanks to my previous world data optimization and by adding some compression, the saved files size is now 2.8MB instead of 28MB... that’s better! Shame on me, i really should have done it sooner...
And I added the version check : if we try to to load a v0.0x saved game from a v0.1 version of the game, an error message is shown. Those old saves won’t work anymore but the player will be able to select the “v0.06″ steam beta branch for the game, if he still wants to play with his previous saved games. But I don’t think that will interest a lot of people once they see all the new things in v0.1 :o)
