Hi Gaddy Games.. I realy realy love Dig or Die, this game is so fun. Can i give you my idea. how if you add a switch device, just like at minecraft. With that switch device i can control just like door and others from far away :D it would be amazing i think.... Thank you and sorry for my bad English :p

Thanks for the suggestion. It had already been asked, and I was not really convinced of the interest of going forward in this “logics” electrics devices.. but it seems quite a lot of people would love to have something like that, so i’ll think again about it :)

Today I prepared a specifications document for the graphics make-over. So now i can move forward on the process and try to find a deal with an artist to do this job. I’ve so much hope on this task, I really think that will give a lot to the game!

Today I released the v0.12 minor update in the beta branch!

I finished those key binding options, at least ! they have been driving me mad for a few days.

Dev Diary 86 

Working on the menu! It has been a long time I wanted to. A new option to choose the language from the game, a resolution drop-down list, and most important a new screen to customize controls. This one is not yet finished but i’m on it. And it should give a basic controller support in the same time!

Dev Diary 84

Today I added some dynamic data to the tooltips of weapons and turrets, so you get more info ingame. And to get even more data you can check the wiki:  http://digordie.gamepedia.com/Weapons and http://digordie.gamepedia.com/Turrets

I also did two custom cursors for the game, and tried to add a windowed fullscreen mode. But its look like Unity doesn’t have this feature... it works only if you launch the game with the -popupwindow parameter. So a solution would be to add a simple launcher for the game that would check this option from in a config file. But even in this case i’m not sure how I could center the window on screen with my code, without calling windows dll. I might have missed something... Well I’ll see later if I find some time to investigate more about it. 

In the meantime I added a code to contain the cursor inside the window rectangle (in windowed mode when game is not paused and has the focus), as this was the biggest issue I got from people playing on dual screens and windowed mode.

Dev Diary 83

Today I worked on various bugs fixes and little improvments for v0.12. Saving jetpack energy, improving the spawning (spawning from further away, and if no place found, spawning into water before spawing over backwalls), adding a 2s invulnerability after loading a game, stopping spawning 10s before the end of night, reducing plants grow speed.

And increasing ants HP from 130 to 200, and damage from 15 to 20. Sorry!

I also checked all the feedbacks about my search for an artist. It’s really great, and most of the feedbacks are confort me in my idea so it’s all good!

And finally, I had to decline a offer to be part of a next Bundle Stars bundle. I may be doing a big mistake here, but I don’t have really a choice, I cannot do any sale or bundle during early access, that would mess with my price system (price increasing during EA with each major update)

Dev Diary 81

Today I fixed another old and annoying bug: the bullets that were sometimes going through blocks. Nore more of that in next v0.12!

I also completed the WIKI with the data tables of weapons, turrets and plant life-conditions. Interesting to see, and the automatic DPS calculation will make it easier for me to balance the game

I also added a big red warning on all out-of-date pages, and updated all the new pages with those data and the new template. It should be much easier now to edit or complete the wiki, don’t hesitate!

Dev Diary 80

I’m now back to work! Today I fixed two issues (among other tasks) that were bothering me for a long time.

First one is the white outine on the ground “top” sprites. I know very well of this issue that is caused by Unity who can’t handle properly alpha transparency without alpha channels. More precisely, any pixel with alpha=0 was saved as white color, and so the border pixels being aliased were using part of this white color, hence the bad outline. Before I had some script to automatically create an alpha channel and “spread” the border colors into the transparent areas - but this script was very bothersome to use.. and i had lost it when I upgraded my computer. But I realized Unity 5.0 did fix this issue, by adding a simple “Alpha is Transparency” option in the image importer. All the nightmares caused by this issue are now definitely gone! Yeah! You can see the difference in the screenshot, the outline is visible on the left part.

The other big issue I fixed was about some projectiles that did go through enemies (or player) instead of hitting it. That was caused by my collision detection algorithm. When the monster was moving toward the projectile, sometimes it was preventing the projectile to actually entering by itself into the monster bounding box hence avoiding detection. Fixed in next v0.12 update!

Today I finished to define all the new wiki pages models. Items (including special tables for  plants life-condition data, turrets data and weapons data) and monsters.

I’ll now go back to the v0.12 update, and hope some motivated players add update the some items & monsters wiki pages. As all the templates are ready to use, and all the images have been uploaded, it should be quite easy now to add and update pages

Dev Diary 73

Today I mostly worked on the game’s WIKI. Finally I now understand how those templates work, and so I did some nice ones. 

Now the items are ready to be completed: just do the same as for the Stone item. You can check its source code, it’s really simple with the templates. And all the items images have been uploaded so no need to upload new data.
