Star Keepers is a book series written by Paul Adams, a sci-fi series set in the distant future of Earth's galaxy. The first book opens on the watery planet of Hedes, where a pair of Hedian maintenance workers prepare to clean the outer walls of their floating city for the day.

The younger of these Hedians is named Digus, a young inventor living in squalor in the lower levels of his city. When the warlord Zlluepan takes notice of a special band he designed himself, Digus strikes a deal with him to use the band to sink the city in exchange for passage off the planet, becoming the villain of the first book.

Digus is a Hedian, about in his early twenties, with a brilliant mind for engineering, a skill that earned him a place as Zlluepan's primary weapons manufacturer. Throughout the series, he proves to be more of a reluctant villain, trapped first in his hometown of Hyukteri, then later in servitude to Zlluepan, striving to find a way out.
