Site Content
My current site: www.patrickfeslerdesign.com About Hello, my name is Patrick Fesler. I am a 22 year old Northwest brewed addict of skiing and design. Living in Seattle, I am currently finishing my degree at Cornish College of the Arts for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications.
some artist/project statements for my cargo collective...
Using photography to explore human connection to the world around us, I’ve drawn from my childhood inspirations of classical and hellenistic greek sculpture with their fluid and dynamic gesture of bodies, as well as the landscape around me. I’ve explored and experimented with techniques in bringing together my ideas of nature, self, and form onto a single picture plane.
In this body of work, “As We Are” I have used a multiple exposure technique within the dark room in order to convey the simple beauty and natural connections we form to the world around us. Shooting both in studio and in the outside world, I collaborated with my models in order to create unique and real representation of these human connections.

In this ongoing project im taking ceilings i come across and find interesting in some way and photographing them. ceilings are things that aren't often payed attention to, and being a person that likes to enjoy every bit of every space i go into, i tend to look up at the ceilings a lot.
I came from a family of carpenters, and through life have come to have a strong interest and like for architecture and seeing how things are structured and supported; and ceilings can often tell a lot about the structure of a building.

in class Q's
what conversations is my audience starting by visiting my site?/what is the audience looking for? why did they come to my site?
I would assume that they came to my site either because they saw my work somewhere and wanted to see more or i sent them there via a link/email/business card. possibly they wanted to see what else i could do/what Ive done and am currently doing.
Which of these(on the board) purposes do i want to say/show on my site? which genres work best for those purposes? -Updates and news are sometimes fun and engaging to an audience, so some of that is good. -eventually i might have a FAQ if i get a big enough audience with interest and curiosity in what is happening. -Artist statements are something that should happen somewhere -Also a C.V. when i get enough shows and publications under my belt. a professional/formal voice would be the best for these things.
In Class Questions 2/3
What conversation is my audience starting by visiting my site?
My audience is opening up a line of communication to learn more about me and my work.
Which of those purposes do I want to say/show on my site? Which genres work best for those purposes?
The purpose of my website is primarily description and process of the works I've done. I would consider this to be most successful as a personal website, describing my process and motivation for all the works I do.
I still need to add more comprehensive photos and descriptions of my work, a statement about myself and my resume.
Project Three Brainstorm-y Proposal
Audience: i imagine my audience as fellow art students, people that are interested art in general, ideally and this would probably be a bit more possible in the future, gallery owners, curators, and art collectors. I imagine they are people who like to look at art, share art, etc. People that enjoy and appreciate and have fun viewing other peoples art. Voice: i dont know, i just want to use my own voice? i dont want to fabricate any kind of persona or presence other than what i actually am. i dont care if anyne doesnt believe it or thinks im not really me or being fake or whatever, that doesnt matter to me or effect me at all with my art and how i want to present myself as an artist. I guess that falls under authenticity.. i myself plan on being “authentic” or being myself as i stated above, and i dont care whether or not people think im being “authentic” that is completely irrelevant to my work. as for branding, i dont really get that… i dont see anything wrong with tailoring your site or work in a way that people will remember it and want to buy or participate or share youre work with other people. But i do think that striking that balance between things you want to make and things you make for other people is something that needs to happen, especially for me, though i tend to incorporate both into my work as it is.
Content: i plan on continuing posting images of the work i have created as well as process photos and maybe the occasional artist statement or text post about what im planning on doing. As well as promotions for art shows im doing, other artists are doing, and plugging my other sites for people to find and view. Also for sharing my thoughts on subjects i come across in life or school pertaining to art. i am using an already existing site I’ve set up for this project, i want to be more active and engaging, and i think with this project i can really do that. I plan on doing the above mentioned, currently i only post finished works on my blog, and i want to do more than that in order to show my audience that i am active, engaged and a real person. On my professional site, i plan on adding more work, creating a process section, and linking my other social media platforms to it. currently my social media platforms link to my professional site but not the reverse.
Site and Social Media: i think i touched on this above again, i plan on just linking the sites, literally putting a link to my social media sites on my professional page and links to my professional site on my social media pages. i dont plan on mixing the two other than that.
Participation: ideally my audience would participate by sharing their own work, or that of other artists, and asking questions about my work, and just opening a dialogue with me in any way. i plan on trying to welcome that by having a personal voice, posting about what im doing, what ive seen, what im interested in, and also throwing questions out at my audience pertaining to what is going on in my art life or what ive seen/come across or learned and asking them what theyve come across and seen and are doing within their own practice, and what they are interested in. My personal goal is mostly a bit selfish, i want to create a large audience of people that enjoy or appreciate or want to share or open a dialogue about my work. (i dont find anything wrong with that either, creating an audience is important for me, i want to be able to share my work with as many people that are interested as possible.)
I also want to learn and grow as an artist and person and a great way to do that (i believe) is to talk to and meet and discuss with as many different people as possible. i want to create a site where i can access a broad range of peoples thoughts and ideas and viewpoints, and for them to access others as well.
