Theres this fun thing I learned about neurotypes is that neurotypes that have low feel-good chemicals like ADHD, psychopathy, etc. have this INSANE pupil dilation response. If some of you don't know, your pupils dilate when you're thinking about or interacting with something/someone you love. For a lot of neurotypes (including neurotypicals) its a subtle motion, but for low-feel good neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin etc. then you can LITERALLY have your pupils dilate like a cat or an owl.
I learned this from a video of a psychopath explaining that he finally caught himself with his pupils dilated in camera during one of his music videos. Then learned that autism and ADHD can have similar pupil dilation! So when I told my friends about this, they said that they have actually seen my eyes get bigger when I yap about my special interest or hyperfixtation, but its usually on video call in the dark so they thought it was a trick of the light at first.
I come back from my communication class, and told her about how the professor wanted us to brainstorm a possible experiment about whatever we want, and I had the idea to get elementary schooler kids and separate/combine them based on similar or different neurotypes and see how they rate their ability to bond and make friends. Then I explain that sometimes neurotypical children will be more hostile to neurodivergent kids, and I theorize that its a cross between in-group/out-group mentality and a survival tactic to avoid people behaving strangely due to either a past group of ancestors who displayed more antisocial tendencies and rabies (rabies is theorized to be why we have uncanny valley).
Then I explained this little fact to Ashley (my roommate) and she told me that when I infodump to her or get excited, my eyes are HUGE. Its really noticeable because i have really blue eyes, so when my pupils expand and dilate its very obvious. She said she's thought about bringing it up before and nearly has multiple times, but she thought it must just be a genetic thing or a weird quirk like crossing your eyes or wiggling your ears.
SO IM LITERALLY SCREAMING??? THIS IS LITERALLY SO VALIDATING AS SOMEONE WHO ABSOLUTELY LOVES EVERYTHING ABOUT THE BRAIN AND HAS IMPOSTER SYNDROME??? I've tried to catch it a few times if I remember the fact when I get excited but it's subconscious so I can't ever get it, so I told her if she sees it she should try and video it they way she admitted wanting to try.
THE BRAIN IS SO FUCKING COOL?!
