Dincharya (day protocol/routine)
Get up at brahma muhurta (holy hours, between 3-6 am or 1 1/2 h before sunrise)
Kardashan (view palms - Laximi, Saraswati and Govind reside on the palm)
Drink water (stored overnight in copper pot)
Brush teeth (traditionally with tree twigs with bitter, pungent and astringent taste e.g. neem)
Massage gums with triphala or trikatu
Scrape tongue with tongue scraper
Gargle with cold water; splash cold water over face
Apply collyrium (medicated eyewash) to eyes
Perform nasya with two drops of anutaila
Oil pulling with sesame oil
Abhyanga specially on head, ears and foot
Light exercise (yoga or pranayama)
Warm bath, but avoid hot water on eyes and head
Pratrashan (morning drink) - milk (avoid tea/tannins)
Chew betel leaves with cardamom
Take good, easily digestible food. Lunch 11am-1pm (pitta); dinner sunset (light, minimal)
Reflect on the day and give thanks
Never suppress or initiate premature urges
Suppress urges of attachment, greed, envy, hatred, jealousy
Sleep well. Generally 5-7 hours is sufficient.
