After a bit of a weird day I needed to do some catching up on notes and just general things around the house so I decided to order in instead of cooking. I ended up order a bit of extra not knowing when my parents were going to be home, but wanting something ready for them if they came in. Sure enough, my mom arrived home shortly before my food, literal perfect timing and perfect planning. Once I got settled I opened up the food and my mom and I collapsed onto the couch to watch some Netflix and eat some delicious pizza. A very filling and relaxing night, and I think my mom liked just being able to put her feet up for the night. Today’s random act of kindness: taking the burden off.

This evening I was running around like crazy trying to get a bunch of things on my to-do list done. Just before I was about to leave to run out and do an errand my parents came home and were starting to look at making some dinner. Myself, already considering ordering some pizza so that I could continue to do other tasks while my dinner was being made offered my parents that if they would wait until I got back I would get pizza for everyone for dinner. Thinking it over my parents agreed so I flew out of the house, completed my errand and returned home. Half an hour later, low and behold we had a family pizza night. Today’s random act of kindness: taking the burden off.

Earlier in the day I had asked my mom if she could cook part of dinner for me so that when I got home there was only about half of the meal left to prepare. Unfortunately, she was unable to be home to do so, by the time that I got home from work so I ended up preparing the entire meal. Originally, the meal was just going to be for myself as it was something my parents don’t normally eat. However while I was doing the preparations I decided to make a larger portion so that everyone could have some and my parents wouldn’t have to do any cooking tonight. When they got home my parents were appreciative and we sat down to a full dinner. Today’s random act of kindness: taking the burden off.

In the busy lives that the majority of people keep even a family dinner is a rare thing. I know that it wouldn’t have been my parents’ favourite meal, but I know that they appreciated something being ready when they finally got home. Even the little things count. :)
