Classification: Dinosauria, Ornithischia, Genasauria, Neornithischia, Cerapoda, Marginocephalia, Ceratopsia, Neoceratopsia, Coronosauria, Ceratopsoidea, Ceratopsidae, Chasmosaurinae, Triceratopsini

Agathaumas is one of those dubious, early described genera, and it was the first named Ceratopsian, found in Wyoming, living about 66 million years ago, in the Maastrichtian age of the Late Cretaceous. The bones are entirely for the skeleton and not the skull, which is a problem, as Ceratopsids are generally characterized by the differences in their heads - as such, it is only thought to be a Triceratopsin, or part of the lineage of Chasmosaurines most closely related to Triceratops, and any further synonymy with known genera cannot be found.
