Feeling a bit sentimental today so here are some more photos I've taken at Dinoland USA in Disney's Animal Kingdom before it becomes extinct later tonight.

One of the most unique theme park lands out there that demonstrated tons of creativity to fit the themes of Animal Kingdom, how we can be changed by the nature that surrounds us. This land is filled with architecture that contradicts the design philosophy of the rest of the park, where structures exist to be subordinate to nature or live in harmony alongside it, yet the land based in Diggs County, USA, features a more manufactured landscape.

Paleontologists constructing a dig site, a storied group of scientists who host an institute of dinosaur research, and a roadside carnival built to capitalize off their efforts encapsulated many of the stories that represent the country it is based off of, as was the goal with the other nations featured in the theme park as well.

It was one of my favorites, and it was a pretty cool place to be.

I was so excited to go to the Dinoland Cafe that I got the whole family on board. They probably think I'm way more into dinosaurs than I actually am. But between a normal restaurant and one filled with dinosaurs, who wouldn't pick the dinos??

In Defense of Dinoland

You’ll notice that each one of these are perfectly represented right now, within different lands of the park. The animals of fantasy are found in Pandora. The animals of today are found in the Oasis, Africa, and Asia. And the animals of yesterday are represented by Dinoland. By destroying Dinoland, Disney is taking a sledgehammer to the very foundation of the park.

You may be surprised to discover that the main theme of Animal Kingdom is not just animals, but conservation of those animals. Animal Kingdom is about appreciating different cultures and creatures. It is about learning to live alongside in peace with every living being on planet Earth.

Dinoland is themed after a paleontology dig site, where students are making discoveries about these creatures all the time. Animals going extinct is unfortunately not exclusive to the Cretaceous era. Dinoland is what will happen to the animals of Africa and Asia and all over the globe if we do not take care of them. Dinoland is a warning; a lesson. Dinoland is WHY conservation is important. If you lose Dinoland, you lose a key aspect of the message of Animal Kingdom.
