So Fun fact about the Orpheus Myth-Post the whole entering Underworld bit and losing his wife forever for good this time, One version of the story said Orpheus was so despondent that he mourned constantly and stopped praising the gods except Apollo-who depending on which version of the myth you read-was his Dad. He used to primarily worship Dinoysus. Which makes sense-but apparently Dinoysus was so sick of his constant mourning and his sad music that he basically sent his crazed followers (specifically the ones called Maenads whose name translates directly to 'Raving Ones') to tear him apart he went to go worship Apollo one morning. And they just ripped him literally apart.

Another version had him still be super sad about his wife and refusing to take female lovers. But he did take male ones. And again, the women followers of Dinoysus feeling pissed about this development of basically the hottest man of their time not wanting to fuck them-tore him to shreds. (and even before he met Eyurdice, he traveled with the Argonauts and fell in love with one named Calais)
