Ight call me dots cause I'm dipping
1-Ingredient Strawberry Sorbet
Do I really need to write a recipe for this? The title says it all. ;)
This strawberry sorbet is simple yet delicious, but soo healthy! I love foods that taste great and make you feel great. Best of all, it's incredibly easy to make: no ice cream machine needed! Just an old fashioned food processor (or a new fashioned high-speed blender ;) ).
And only one ingredient: strawberries!
Well, okay, there is technically a 2nd optional ingredient: 1/2 tsp guar gum. Guar gum is what I've been noticing in the ingredient list of most store-bought ice creams, from organic vegan ice creams to everyone's favorite ice creams (Ben & Jerry's). Curious, I started experimenting with it in my own homemade frozen treats (like popsicles, ice cream, froyo, and... this strawberry sorbet), and I noticed that it makes frozen treats a lot creamier and prevents them from freezing rock solid in the freezer.
You definitely don't need guar gum if you're going to be eating the strawberry sorbet on the same day you make it though! Or, you could use the old homemade sorbet trick of adding a shot of vodka in your ice cream. ;) Who doesn't like a little booze?
Lastly, make sure you use in-season summer fresh strawberries. It's another reason why the recipe is only "one-ingredient." Summer strawberries are now sooo sweet and juicy, and I like the tart-sweet flavor of strawberries as is, without sweetener. But, if you do want it to be sweeter, feel free to add some honey, stevia, or organic cane sugar to taste.
I think this strawberry sorbet is amazing just on it's own, BUT I will say it is even more amazing when swirled with homemade froyo. I will get to that recipe soon! Be sure to subscribe + follow me on Instagram to keep updated!
Strawberry Sorbet
Fresh frozen strawberries*
Optional stuff: 1/2 tsp guar gum /or/ 1 tsp vodka Sweetener, to taste: honey / stevia / organic sugar
*I used roughly 10 oz organic strawberries that I rinsed, cut into halves, and froze myself. You can also use store-bought frozen strawberries, but you may need to add a bit of sweetener because store-bought may not be as sweet as fresh. The ones I used were incredibly sweet and juicy!
Also, how much strawberries you use depends on how much you want and how big your food processor is. I literally just dumped frozen strawberries into my food processor until it was almost full.)
1. Place frozen strawberries in food processor.
2. If using, sprinkle guar gum onto the strawberries. 3. Process....
4. Keep going...
5. Done! It's sorbet. :)
