VGen October Challenge - Fog
I made this drawing for the VGen monthly challenge back in October- only to realize you can't enter unless you post your drawing online. I was already on hiatus at that time, so I took the loss u.u
It was super rushed, but it was still fun to make something Alien related! :3 The theme was "fog", and I was reminded about the blue fog that surrounds the xenomorph eggs in the alien ship! And with me being an astronaut for Halloween, I thought it would be perfect to put my fursona into the foggy depths >:3
I originally did the challenge to get a VGen code, but then a friend hooked me up so I didn't need to submit it anyways! (So uh hinthint if you wanna buy a custom art commission for around $25-$100 check out vgen.co/dippy ;3) I may do more VGen challenges in the future tho, just cause I love me a drawing prompt!
Hibernation
So, a little more on my hibernation! t(owo) Leaving your social media for 5 months of the year may seem like the worst way to run a page- but for me it's the BEEESST! :3 I've run social media pages with high follower counts before, and the stress of posting regularly is just horrible. Even if you post every other day, or even a few times a week- the pressure to keep up the pace for extremely long periods of time (like YEARS!?) is just not sustainable for me. In the end, the burn out always consumes me and I abandon the internet all together. But at the same time, I do enjoy posting every day! Queueing up the posts, getting little interactions throughout the day, and there's just enough push to keep me exercising my drawing muscles! So to me, it seemed like the most logical thing to do is to build my posting schedule around my creative ebb and flow! It was important for me to follow the natural flow of my body and with the world around me. Like most animals, I am TIRED in the winter- especially here in snowy sleepy Canada, and especially with my depression getting harder to manage in the cold months. The last thing I want to do is stress about posts for an audience I can't even see. Winter is for me to sleep in and daydream and get inspired from the comfort of my bed. Then, as the snow thaws and my days get brighter, I have the clear head and energy in my body to actually create again! I get excited to finish projects, and to take my art to new places! Instead of forcing myself to post everyday forever, I can post daily for the brighter half of the year, and rest and recharge for the other half. Plus my fursona is a bear and bears hibernate, so it works out perfectly :3c FUN FACT: Black Bears enter their dens around October-November, and can hibernate anywhere from 3-8 months! Anywho- scheduled hibernations are better than working until you burnout, and I'm sticking to it! I think next hibernation I'll try to go November-March, so I can be around for fun Halloween and (Canadian) Thanksgiving stuff :3
I'M BAAACKK!!
Hello everybeary!! :3 I'm back from hibernation!! I know at the start of this little break I said it would only be for a month or two- but I decided that a full on hibernation of 5 months would be better! I'll have a post expanding more on my hibernation later, but for this post I just wanted to say haaai!!~ <3 I'm excited to be back with daily posts, starting with this little scenic piece! I thought a drawing of myself crawling out of my cave would be a good first post! I ended up having to rush to get it out on time and forgot a few details (don't mind the snow-less trees) but I still like how it turned out! I think I do backgrounds best when they're painted- the thought of drawing the background was daunting until I realized I could just play around with brushes to get the image across :3
I recently got back into Animal Crossing: New Leaf and had to doodle some little moments! <3
Feeling Pawesome
My entry for the VGen monthly challenge!! I love the idea of a monthly drawing prompt and am so excited to do more- but when I heard VGen was collabing with my beloved Furaffinity!? I had to jump on it IMMEDIATELY,,, and the theme of PAWS??? TT-TT <3 SO CUUUTEE,,,
I love love love bear paws and their nice dark lil paw pads, so I really wanted to have a close up drawing of them being so soft and squishy! Also included my wife's lil paws squishing my face for extra squishy feels! <3
🛸 MEET DIPPY! 🛸
(This character introduction took FOREVER but I'm so happy it's done <3)
I made Dippy with the intent to replace my main sona- but I love my main sona too much. As a result, Dippy has become more his own character, but I'll still occasionally use him as a mascot/sona when I need something extra scrunkily and ugly :3
My favorite memory of Dippy, is when I showed him to my wife for the first time and her IMMEDIATE reaction was "EW WHAT IS THAT!?". Oh Dippy, you ugly little thing, I love you so <3
