By Kanupriya Kapoor JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia's outgoing president has spoken out in favor of retaining direct elections for governors and mayors, saying democratic reforms had to be protected. Indonesia's parliament has proposed doing away with direct elections for provincial, district and city leaders, saying legislative assemblies in those jurisdictions should fill those posts. A new generation of politicians, including president-elect Joko Widodo, has risen to prominence by winning direct elections for regional posts, introduced in 2005. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono backed keeping the direct elections in an interview late on Sunday, which was posted on his ruling party's YouTube channel. Source: Reuters

Who is your favorite politician of all time?

Mary Corrado: Professor (Governor) Dukakis is one of my all time favorites. He not only served the state he loves, moving it forward on so many issues, but he now works tirelessly for his students, helping them improve and do what they love. I've never met anyone more like Superman!

Zach Shaw: Theodore Roosevelt. Not really based on his political work, more just that he was an awesome man who was the Ron Swanson of his generation. Also I always loved the slogan, “Speak softly and carry a big stick”.

Nick Naraghi: Abraham Lincoln. He was a little rough around the edges, but he stuck to what he believed in regardless of what people thought of him. 

Maya Quijada: Hard question. I am a huge Cory Booker fan - I have a lot of respect for the commitment he has as Mayor, and his communication with constituents is overwhelming and inspiring.

Nick Naraghi: I'd love to trade places with Rich D'Amore or Alan McKim, the two gentlemen who made the very generous donation to rename our Business School here. After a short conversation with them, I could tell that they are both incredibly intelligent guys, and have had unique and powerful experiences to draw from in their work. They're also both on the Northeastern Board of Trustees, and I would love to see how the board works and the many different factors they consider when making changes for our school.

Maya Quijada: Justin Timberlake... So I can look in the mirror and see myself whenever I want and can sing sweet nothings in that voice of mine.
