About to commence a Willow rewatch and I'm sure I'll find 830 examples I missed in this ridiculously overlong breakdown but my gods I'mma have fun agonising over it.

About to commence a Willow rewatch and I'm sure I'll find 830 examples I missed in this ridiculously overlong breakdown but my gods I'mma have fun agonising over it.
Willow's direction clearly considers character journeys, start to finish.
Inspired by @ludm, I wrote (a lot) about Willow.
how framing and blocking can show characters' feelings about each other
"A parking garage [is, among other things] a place ripe for symbolic staging which uses literal spacial relationship to signify inner thoughts and metaphorical relationships."
Christine Moore deeply understands Elementary’s world, characters, and their relationship to each other.
I wrote about the Season 6 (and theoretical series) finale, and why Christine Moore’s direction was so crucial to how it works.
Every episode of The Pitt is basically in real time, and scene transitions are a big part of keeping the show flowing.
I have gone maybe only slightly insane / overboard, and looked at every single scene transition from an episode of The Pitt to figure out just how they keep us so engaged.
Strap in, everyone: here's part 1 (of five)
Legends of Tomorrow isn't just ridiculous & delightfully written, it delivers huge cast, stunts, period sets+wardrobe, and weekly special effects, while taking time to be playful with form!
Doing a whole ShotZero week on Legends-style film techniques soon, but this scene was a tiny lil apéritif to tide me over . . .
Having Fun, Creating Movement, and Hiding Demons, all in one!
So, how DO you feel about cows?
Looking Good for Cheap: Directing Marvel's Agent Carter
Looking Good for Cheap: Directing Marvel's #AgentCarter:
While Marvel is tearing up the big screen, DC – in form of the Arrowverse and an assorted hit-or-wide-miss offering every season or so – owns the small screen, with two major exceptions: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. The former has several seasons and loosely connects to the films, and for my money the latter remains Marvel’s best episodic offering, cancelled far too soon.
