These headcanons came to mind bc surely you don’t get used to living in a new place that quickly
Spring Troupe
Sakuya
The first time he woke up in the middle of the night when the Spring Troupe was completed, he was startled by Citron’s snores.
It took him a minute to come to his senses, and he started tearing up when he realized he finally had a home full of people who actually wanted him around. People who were there to welcome him home with smiles on their faces.
Actually started crying when he came down for breakfast after sleeping in and the troupe greeted him a good morning and offered him breakfast whilst fussing over him.
Also accidentally left Masumi behind when going to school numerous times since he’s used to heading to school by himself.
Sakuya, halfway to school: Why do I feel like I’m forgetting some— *pauses mid-sentence and starts sprinting back to the dorms* MASUMI!!
Masumi
It took him an embarrassingly long amount of time to get used to sleeping in a loft bed.
Tsuzuru has woken up several times in the morning to Masumi knocking his head hard on the ceiling.
Years later, Masumi still ends up hitting his head on the ceiling when he’s startled awake. Tsuzuru has gotten used to it (and is actually slightly concerned if Masumi has gotten any brain damage from it happening so often)
Tsuzuru
Sort of the same problem as Masumi, but instead of hitting his head on the ceiling, Tsuzuru would be at risk of falling out of bed.
He’s always been a heavy sleeper, and sometimes his body would just move on its own accord during his deep sleep.
Has definitely given several of the troupe members near heart attacks when they see Tsuzuru’s head or limbs lolling off the side of the bed when they go to wake him up.
Eventually came into the habit of placing pillows on his sides as some sort of makeshift barrier to prevent him from falling. Although it doesn’t really help much.
Citron
Was surprised by how lively a living place could be, but totally vibes with it.
During times when the other troupe members weren’t around he’d instinctively call out for Guy if he needed something. (and maybe feel a bit sad remembering that Guy wasn’t there for him anymore)
Absolutely fucked up all the chores that were asked of him. At first the troupe members were super exasperated with him and just banned him from doing chores altogether but Citron was determined to contribute and eventually learned (after many gruelling sessions from Tsuzruru)
Itaru
Was super exhausted from having to keep up his work persona at the dorm as well
Once the troupe figured out his true gamer persona he let loose
Would always complain out loud when they called him for meals and the like during his gaming sessions but deep down felt warm inside and touched by the familial affection that he hadn’t felt in awhile
Chikage
On high alert. All. The. Time.
Had trouble sleeping not only because he wasn’t used to having a roommate but also because he was sleeping under the same roof as a woman (even if she was far away in another room smh)
Begrudgingly had to learn to adjust to the food tastes of the other troupe members. They just don’t understand the amazingness of 🌶 ✨ spice ✨ 🌶
Summer Troupe
Tenma
Vehemently denies it but was initially spooked by all the footsteps of the other troupe members at night since he’s used to an empty house and rooms to himself when he’s filming
Even got lost in the dorms a few times during his first week. It’s not his fault the Mankai dorms are so big!
Had to get used to not having Igawa at his beck and call for whenever he needed a designated driver.
Because of this, during the first few weeks Tenma would get lost a concerning amount of times. He had to work up the courage to ask the troupe members with drivers licenses to drive him around since they were still essentially strangers to him.
During the first few times it was his turn to accompany Izumi on grocery duty, he was completely floored by how cheap everything is. Kid’s a freaking rich child actor with no proper sense of money sksksk
Yuki
Used to throw hissy fits all the time when he first started rooming with Tenma about sharing closet space. With the two of them combined, there was just not enough space for their clothes
Also took a long time getting used to having his nightly routines disturbed what with how many people would need to use the bathroom, plus with Tenma sometimes working ungodly hours for shoots or staying up to memorize lines for multiple roles whilst leaving all the lights on, Tenma claiming he can’t concentrate otherwise
Whenever Yuki had a bad night’s sleep because of this, he would be completely unapproachable the entire morning. God forbid that you were the one to wake him up for school that day.
Muku
Same with Tenma, was initially spooked by all the extra footsteps around the dorms - both at night and during the day.
Used to speedrun his morning bathroom routine in fear of holding up everyone else since there are just so many people in the dorm!!
Kazunari thought that Muku was just generally fast in getting ready in the morning but when Kazu realized what was happening he immediately sat Muku down and had to convince him that no, he was not taking up everyone else’s time
Kazunari
Had to get used to getting people’s permission before taking pictures and videos since everyone at home already accepted his blogger tendencies
It was actually amusing at first to see how everyone - especially Tenma, Itaru, and Citron - would go to lengths to dive out of Kazunari’s filming range.
Izumi had to sit him down along with the other members of the troupe to talk about boundaries. There were no hard feelings between anyone, thankfully.
He’s gotten better about asking permission to take videos/pictures, but Kazu still likes to take candids of the more camera-shy members of the troupe for private consumption of the Mankai dorms only.
Misumi
Much like Citron, was pleasantly surprised by how warm and lively a living space could be
When he made snacks for himself he would forget to make more for the others/forget to ask the others if they wanted some and would apologize profusely whenever he remembered because he’s not used to living with so many other people
He would unwittingly steal other people’s food from the fridge because he assumed that the food in there was in there for everyone. He would always make it up to the member in question, though.
One of the reasons why all food that goes into the fridge has to be labelled, otherwise it’s free game.
Kumon
Was initially super psyched about being dormmates with his cousin plus the other amazing actors in the company. It’d be like a never-ending sleepover! Right?
Wrong. He was constantly on his toes being careful not to give away his illness to anyone.
And even when that issue resolved, he realized that it’s a lot harder than he thought to keep up with how different everyone’s personalities are - not even to mention the age gap between some of them. Generation gap is real.
Autumn Troupe
Banri
Dorming with a bunch of guys was just as chaotic he expected it to be.
The testosterone levels and alpha energy in the dorms are through the roof. and lbr banri contributes to a lot of it
He expected to butt heads with other guys a lot especially Juza but he didn’t really realize how often it would occur and how tiring it would be, both physically and mentally
Juza
Was a bit put-off by how welcoming everyone is
Initially super worried about Kumon and everyone back home
Would get out of bed during odd hours of the night and stay up super late talking to his family
Refused to admit it but was really homesick at first and found comfort in the fact that he at least had Muku around (even if Juza did go out of his way to avoid him at first)
Omi
During the first few times he had cooking duty, Omi severely misjudged serving proportions
With so many active, young men to feed he needed to adjust his ratios when cooking for the whole company
The first time he cooked for the company it was too little and he was super apologetic about it
The next time he cooked though had them eating leftovers for about a week
And when he finally got to a good serving portion to when he cooks?
The new Winter troupe members came and he had to rethink his cooking ratios all over again
Taichi
Constantly worried about his younger siblings
Would constantly space out thinking about the shenanigans his younger siblings would get into when he’s not home
This resulted into random late night calls to his family
Bless Omi for putting up with his roommate’s interruptions to his sleep
Sakyo
At first it wasn’t much of a problem - he treated it like him just sleeping in a new apartment
Until he started overthinking and realized he was was practically cohabiting with his first love Izumi
This caused him to be very stiff and awkward whenever Izumi was in the vicinity
He eventually calmed down after clearing the notions in his head
But it was a painfully awkward first week for everyone when Sakyo first moved into the dorms
Azami
Since he was rooming in with Sakyo, he occasionally had some regressions, reverting back to his more childish mannerisms at times
However, much like Sakyo, did a lot of overthinking about the fact that he was living under the same roof as a female
Was always on high alert when walking around the dorm, especially the bathroom
Not used to seeing people being so openly affectionate to the opposite gender, one could often hear Azami’s lectures/screeches about chastity and propriety whenever members would show physical affection to Izumi
“Stop that lewd handholding right now!!”
Winter Troupe
Tsumugi
Had to adjust his morning routine entirely.
Once things settled down between him and Tasuku, he had to deal with Tasuku berating him for being a lazy couch potato
Tsumugi is definitely not a morning person and is super lethargic in the mornings
Rooming with his super athletic childhood friend forced him to get up way earlier in the morning
During the first few weeks of dorming in Mankai, Tsumugi would often be seen taking naps along with Hisoka
God forbid you encounter a Tsumugi without his morning coffee
Tasuku
Likewise, having to deal with rooming with his childhood friend disrupted his own schedule
Since their childhood, Tasuku has always had this instinct to dote on Tsumugi
Even as adults overcoming an estranged friendship it was pretty hard for him to unlearn the behavior to a reasonable extent
Would have to stop himself from nagging Tsumugi over little things. Yes, they’re childhood friends but they’re also adults - he shouldn’t have to wake up his roommate up all the time nor remind him about small things. Tsumugi should be able to take care of himself.
Homare
Initially had difficulty adjusting to living with the younger generation
God forbid that there are no other adults in the dorms besides Homare
This man has absolutely no idea how to supervise children, but he’s got the spirit.
“Come, Kazunari, let us enjoy the tik of toks!”
Also, he just does not know how to say no.
Lets the kids eat whatever they want. Gummy bears for lunch? Go for it! Wanting to experiment with tiktok recipes? Homare’s not much of a cook himself but let’s give it a go! *not less than 10 minutes later the fire alarm is going off*
Yuki can be seen goading Tenma into dangerous acts. Banri attempts to teach Homare Fortnite dance memes. Taichi skates through the dorm’s corridors. Kazunari vibes with it all and uploads the chaos to his insta.
Hisoka
Not used to having a fixed/regular meal time; with his previous lifestyle, he’d eat whenever he had the chance (which was not very often)
This would often lead to him skipping meals (and subsequently the entire dorm trying to find where Hisoka is sleeping this time)
Likewise, he’s surprised at how integral meal times are part of the dorm’s daily routine.
Before, meal times - if they could even be called that - were just a short, necessary thing for survival. But now?
The warmth he gets from sitting down with everyone, eating together, swapping stories and just basking in each other’s presence is a bit overwhelming at first, but something he comes to look forward to.
Azuma
Since he would often go out during the night, he frequently forgot to tell anyone else of his whereabouts.
Azuma was easily contacted whenever this happened, but it left several of the troupe members exasperated with his behavior
It happened so often, in fact, that the Winter troupe members all took turns in phoning Azuma whenever someone was looking for him.
Guy
After moving in, a habit of Guy’s that was quite hard to break was his need to patrol the vicinity
Would just wake up during odd hours of the night to walk around the whole dorm’s premises
Because of this, he unintentionally gave several of the troupe members jump scares during ungodly hours whenever they got up to go to the bathroom or get a late night snack
Bonus!
Izumi
Was a bit apprehensive at first since she’s the only female living in with all these actors, but because of her responsibilities she quickly got over it
During the first few days however, she was overly conscious about how she conducted herself and her habits so as to not leave a bad impression on her fellow dorm mates.
Super excited with how many mouths there are to feed - all the variations of curry are just waiting for her them to try out!
On quiet nights, even until the present, she finds herself reflecting on how blessed and lucky she is to have a second shot at having a warm, happy, lively home again.
heres a meme idea: Banri sings in the shower >:3 whether he's good at it or not, or if others react to it, is totally up to you!
I've been meaning to write my own fic about it, but I'd love to hear others' versions of it! If u do choose to write this, thanks in advance and pls take ur time :))
Have a nice day!
Nice >:)
Ayooo finally finding some time to clear out my drafts/askbox after like a year’s time let’s gooooo
Okay, so at first this was supposed to be a full-fledged scenario where each member of the Mankai company would randomly encounter Banri singing in the shower but I eventually lost inspiration and dropped it;;
So take this short WIP plus some bullet points!
One of the aspects of living in the Mankai dorms was, unfortunately, having to use a communal bathroom. For better or for worse, that led to Banri sharing the bathroom with other members at times that were once his private bathing time.
That isn’t to say that Banri was embarrassed about it – hell, he has an amazing body and he freaking knows it!
“B-Banri!” Sakuya squeaks out as he averts his eyes, Tsuzuru doing the same. “Sorry for disturbing you. Spring Troupe’s night practice just finished and we thought that no one else was in here.”
Moments like these, however, make him wish he had a bathroom he could use by himself.
Awkward seconds pass painfully slow until Sakuya and Tsuzuru decide to just show themselves out, electing to wait for Banri to finish his bath.
“For what it’s worth, you have a lovely singing voice, Banri.” Tsuzuru offers before hurrying over to the door.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Banri grouches, his face reddening at being caught. “I’ll hurry up so your troupe can get in already.”
Later, Masumi who heard the details from a sleep-talking Tsuzuru sneers at Banri for his poor taste in music. Eventually, Citron catches wind of the fact and makes a big deal at the dinner table about how he laments not being able to witness Banri’s “concert”, nor being able to sing along with him. Itaru and Chikage continuously tease him about it until the news loses its novelty.
--
- Tenma being Tenma gives him shit about it like “Your technique could use some work.” But also uses it as an excuse to hang out and goes “Improve and bring your A game to our next karaoke sesh.”
- Yuki just isn’t having it like, “shut up some ppl need to bathe properly”
- Kazunari is totally on board, joins in like, “oh yeah pump it up let’s partyyyyy ”
- Muku is totally accepting of it and this further solidifies his princely image he has of Banri bc he sings when doing daily stuff
- Misumi occasionally joins in on Banri’s bath time and sings triangle songs and Banri was super exasperated about it at first and actively tried to avoid taking baths with Misumi around but eventually grew to accept it and just lets it happen.
- Kumon heckles him about him like “my nii-chan sings way better than you smh.”
- Autumn troupe bath time: Banri just unconsciously starts singing under his breath. Juza is like stfu. Sakyo tells him to get the bath over with quickly and stop wasting water. Omi compliments his singing voice, saying it’s much better than his own. Taichi joins in as hypeman and starts belting along with Banri. Azami shades him like “If you have time to sing in the bath you have time to do proper skin care my god.”
- Tsumugi and Tasuku would be chill with it, not too overly excessive in their reaction and just apologize for intruding.
- Azuma would definitely tease Banri about it, saying things like, “My, how unexpectedly cute of you.”
- Homare definitely would join in, spouting out lyrics and rapping along.
- Hisoka is a rock. He sleeps through it all.
- Guy is intrigued and considers it as good vocal exercise and adds it to his bath routine as well
I started writing this way back when, when I was in a bad headspace. Finally found the courage to post it.
Trigger warning for depictions of depression.
Established Sakyo x Reader!Director.
“I’m home.” you weakly call out as you open the door to the Mankai dorms.
Mercifully, a majority of the actors are out, so only a few members come out into the vicinity to greet you.
‘I’m just not in the mood.’
Mustering up what little positive energy you have left, you force a smile on your face and greet your actors back. Once they seem satisfied with your response, they resume their own activities, leaving you to trek to your room.
As you shuffle through the corridor, the lively chatter that echoes through the halls fades into white noise while your dark thoughts possess you. Without even realizing it, you’re already in your bed, flopped face down on top of your unmade sheets, not even bothered to have taken off your shoes.
Your mind finally catches up to the current situation, only to further reinforce your fatigue, and slumber quickly finds you as a wave of hollowness washes over.
You wake up to someone flicking your bedroom lights on. Still, you feel markedly unrefreshed despite the 4 hour nap the clock informs you of.
Can it even be called a nap if you slept for 4 hours straight?
You shield your eyes from the blinding fluorescent lights and squint blearily at the figure that stands in your doorway.
“Dinner time.” Sakyo says, opening the door a bit wider.
Slowly, you sit up, taking your time to register his words.
“Okay.” you mumble, nodding absentmindedly.
Your eyes fixate on the splash of color your wallpaper provides, a stark contrast to your inner feelings.
I don’t want to feel anything anymore.
Seconds… minutes pass as you sit in bed. Even the mere effort of getting up and out of bed is a chore in and of itself.
Distantly, you can hear Sakyo calling your name but it doesn’t really register in your mind until you feel a gentle grip on your arm.
You meet Sakyo’s eyes and there’s a hint of emotion - pity, maybe? - that makes tears well up in your eyes for reasons that even you can’t fully explain yourself.
“Come on,” he says gently. “It may not make you feel particularly better, but your body still needs energy.”
You feel your heart swell a bit (in gratitude? melancholy?) and find yourself nodding along to his words. You don’t necessary like it, but he does have a point.
Thus, you allow yourself to be pulled along and over to the dinner table where several of the company’s members have already started eating. Upon noticing your arrival, they all call out your name or their own variations of “director!” in greeting.
You struggle to force another smile for them then sit down in the chair that Sakyo pulls out for you.
Sakyo not-so-subtly levels a glare at the present troupe members, causing them to lean back a bit into their chairs. Still, you say nothing and allow Sakyo to fill your plate with food.
You feel nauseated upon seeing him pile your plate with what you perceive to be too excessive and try to let Sakyo know, “That’s too mu-“ but abruptly cut yourself off when Sakyo shifts his sharp gaze to you.
Like the others, you shrink into yourself at his reprimanding stare.
Sakyo’s gaze softens, and he murmurs a low, “Sorry.” He stops his actions and pays attention to his own plate only after making sure you take a few bites of your food.
Dinner goes on, yet your plate remains generally untouched while the members leave the table one by one. Finally, only you and Sakyo are left at the table.
Sakyo lets out a loud sigh and picks up your plate and his, then silently makes his way back to the kitchen. You stare at his back blankly, devoid of thought, when he suddenly looks back at you with a tender look on his face.
“I’ll clean up,” he says gently, as if afraid he’ll spook you. “You go on ahead back to your room. I’ll be with you in a bit.”
You nod numbly and allow your feet to carry you back to your room and back into bed. True to his word, Sakyo comes in no less than ten minutes later.
Without prompt, he slides into bed with you and draws you in close to his side, cradling your head to his chest.
Enclosed in the warm, familiar, safe environment you finally allow your defenses to break down. Tears start welling up in your eyes and before you know it you’re a sobbing mess, smothering Sakyo’s shirt in ugly tears and snot.
Through it all, he continues to hold you close. He strokes your hair gently, and presses his lips to the crown of your head over and over again.
There are no words.
Still, you fall asleep with a much lighter heart, the burden of the world feeling a bit easier with him by your side.
A3! Characters as random things me, my friends, and my family have said:
Sakuya: *someone suggests meeting up for a friendly lunch date amidst the quarantine* I am willing to risk it all for friendship!!
Masumi: Why must I thirst for the hot mom.
Tsuzuru: If I sleep now, I have like... *checks time* 15 minutes before I have to get ready for my class. There’s some energy drinks and coffee in the fridge so that covers my breakfast, I guess.
Itaru: I’ve given up on life. I’m putting my trust in the gacha gods. GG.
Citron: There was a saleslady trying to help me but I couldn’t remember the word for “panyo” (“handkerchief”). The only thing my mind could come up with was “payong” (“umbrella”), so I kinda just had a staring contest with her for a minute until my dumb semi-bilingual brain finally supplied me with the correct word.
Chikage: *is inconvenienced by someone over a petty thing* Oh my god I’m going to kill you, like, not “haha I’m gonna kill you” kinda vibe, but literally, you are dead to me and I’m going to kill you.
Tenma: Scary movie contest? So whoever screams first pays for pizza, right? Get ready to pay up, losers. *starts screaming less than 5 minutes into the horror movie*
Yuki: Go change clothes. I don’t wanna go out in public with you while you look like that.
Muku: Sorry, I’m a big dumb dumb.
Kazunari: You got this! I’m vibing good vibes so hard for you right now!
Misumi: *every time, after any level of physical activity* PARKOUR!
Kumon: It’s totally normal to tag along with your older sibling whenever they go out though, right? ...RIGHT?!
Banri: *while playing a first-person shooter video game* You thought you could get me, huh? Well, you thought wrong! Think harder, b*tch!
Juza: *points to a monster-sized milkshake on a menu that clearly says “for 3-4 people”* Hypothetically, if I ordered this for myself, what would you say?
Omi: One of the best ways to make friends is to offer them food. I know that sounds like a conditional friendship, but hear me out.
Taichi: What if dogs could climb up trees like how cats do?
Sakyo: *writes on a birthday card* Happy Birthday. Pay me back the money you still owe me.
Azami: NO PROPOSALS UNTIL AFTER MARRIAGE!!
Tsumugi: I don’t have any crushes. I am but a simple plant.
Tasuku: *whenever someone offers their help in lifting things or admires his strength* I took a weightlifting class in college for PE, you know.
Homare: I just have all these ideas living in my head and I have to say them out loud, you know? They deserve to be heard.
Hisoka: My record for most consecutive hours of sleep is 20 hours. At one point, I think my roommate may have considered the possibility of me being dead but ultimately just decided to let me be.
Azuma: Usually whenever someone asks me my age, I pull up a blank. How old am I, really? Does age really matter in this situation? And then I start getting really weird and existential. They usually drop the question when I start zoning out.
Guy: *visibly confused* People think mental math is hard?
