Watching the 2024 Salems lot movie; being from Maine and an ecologist I am consistently pissed off and disappointed by movies/shows set in Maine being blatantly filmed in the PNW

Like I fully will be taken out of the scene and become only able to concentrate on “THAT TREE IS WRONG!!!” (To say nothing of what people think a Maine accent sounds like oh my GOD)

I grew up literally IN Salems lot - it’s a fictional town but as soon as I read the book in middle school and it mentions abutting the town I lived in I was like oh shit! like royal river is mentioned a bunch, that’s where the elvers run, where are my fucking vampires. Stephen King just plopped Salems lot right on top of the forest where I did shrooms in 10th grade and I think that was very cool of him to do for me

So with this in mind, I was fully prepared to hate every exterior scene of this movie

But it’s… right? I looked it up and they filmed it in northern MA, approximately two hours by highway from where I grew up

I am unreasonably pleased by this

Idk how the rest of the movie will be but thank fuck for the right trees

For a relatively brief time in 1999-2000, UP had solid sets of former SP GEs pulling intermodal trains on the I-5 corridor. This hotshot is crossing Castle Creek in the Sacramento River Canyon, a few miles south of the crew change at Dunsmuir.
