Honest Disabled Chat ♿️

Because I need to vent before tomorrow

The stress and worry with being disabled and needing a shit ton of medication, epi pens and trying to communicate with the venue genuinely puts me off ever going to a concert again

I haven’t been to a concert in almost 10 years, back then I could wear a clear backpack and have everything in one space, a printed sheet explaining the medical conditions and them saying all is good. We would also email/phone the staff beforehand so they knew.

But now it has to be in a small bag which one bag isn’t going to hold all my medical items (we got an exemption for two small bags, but we asked if a clear backpack would work and they said no, two small bags only)

I understand completely it’s a safety measure because of the venue attacks and such!

It just feels a little bit silly to me that I can’t have my medications in one space?

It’s also been an absolute struggle trying to communicate with the o2 arena, I understand it’s such a large event venue with MANY things going on but trying to talk to them that there is a possibility that my lungs could seize up and all we’re getting ‘you’ll have to talk to the yondr staff’

We ended up emailing yondr to let them know and they told us ‘you’ll have to tell the medics at the o2’. I’m not sure what the o2 meant as I’m not sure the yondr staff aren’t going to be medically trained?

It sort of feels like no one knows what to do or who’s in charge with what even though they have a page on accessibility for disabled people?

Hi, this is a curious little ask because you know the Ghost: disability list. Foremost, I love that - it's so cool you were doing that fam. Next one, mostly again curiously, Is there any fic with Diabetes in general?

So far I have only found one diabetes story that has 6 chapters of one shots on AO3 but I’m always on the search to update the list!

I need your help!

I want to make a post dedicated to just disabled and mental health ghost stories~ whether the reader is a ghoul or a sibling of sin.

I feel like it would be helpful to others who want to feel more included in something we all love dearly and it’ll just be easier to find if it’s all linked to one post?

It’ll be a separate post to this one so please could you share this so more people know about the idea I’m thinking?
