Celebrated 14 years with my husband last week :)

Hung up some of my vintage taxidermy pieces today!

Say hi to Hildebrand, a western jackdaw (Corvus monedula) from Klagenfurt in Germany Austria (yours truly is bad at geography), mounted in June 1965, and Magdalena, a Eurasian magpie (Pica pica) from Maastricht in the Netherlands, date of mounting unknown but likely similar to Hildebrand.

Yours truly, discovering the wonders of a bottle of Barkeeper's Friend and a dish sponge on my incredibly tarnished and dirty brass dining room chairs:

The difference with one of the yet-to-be-cleaned ones is stark:

Anyway, I'm (still) cleaning and reupholstering my dining room chairs. Finished 2 out of 6, but it's dark here now so will update with proper pictures later.

I was tired of looking at an ugly plastic bin on my kitchen counter holding all my pills, and got inspired by all those fake antique drug/poison jars on Etsy, so… behold, my “new” apothecary jars!

The jars themselves are actually quite old and did originally come from a pharmacy in my hometown. (I bought them secondhand as part of a lot of old pharmacy supplies, which also included unused labels and pill boxes that had the name and address of the pharmacy on them -hence how I know.)

They were in abysmal state, so I don’t feel like I ruined antique pieces or anything.

Anyway, my counter is now more Aesthetic(TM), I’m calling that a success!
