Disaster Response Training is an annual event organized by the Alpha Phi Omega International Service Fraternity and Sorority as part of their service to the community, having recognized the need to be aware and properly trained to help the community and the university during emergencies.
The participants for this training will be five (5) composed of: advisers, student assistants and/or occupants of all the dormitories and cottages in the university.
The training will be a short course on fire and earthquake drill, basic first aids, bandaging and carries as well as an introduction to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. These skills that the Bureau of Fire Protection trainers will be teaching, will be used by the participants in real life situations in their respective dormitories.
What sets this apart from other disaster response trainings held in the Visayas State University (VSU) is the simulation at the end of the training, where the participants will be exposed to a pseudo-disaster, in which all the lessons tackled in the training will be tested.
This is a whole day activity with the registration starting at 7:00 o’clock in the morning and the training proper at 8:00 o’clock in the morning until 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon of April 21, 2018 (Saturday) at the VSU Convention Center.
