There's something to be said about how Michael pep talks everyone who takes on the position of Captain (even if it's only temporarily) only to then eventually become Captain herself. Now, that's growth!!

the thing that Gets me about michael and ash’s relationship is that it is built on complete trust and almost perfect honesty. like for two people so deeply traumatised and hurt and with voq literally trying to kill michael and the impact that has on her, their relationship shouldn’t work. but it does because they have unshakeable faith in each other and (generally) don’t hide how they feel or what they’re struggling with and because they know exactly how much the other has been hurt and they always try to respond with empathy and patience. they are each others tether!!!!!!

so I’m rewatching Discovery and DAMN being dressed down by Captain Philippa as not being ready to be captain is SO much more painful than anything the Emperor could have ever said. 

Captain Philippa is so good, so kind and so full of heart. She was ready to die to save her ship. 

Michael’s disappointing her is the WORST. zomg.

I honestly forget between rewatches how delightful the writing and acting is in ‘Will You Take My Hand?’ Really, the final two episodes of S1 are its strongest.

The whole thing leaves me in one ball of emotional squee.
