I couldn't believe it was already two years and a half since I drew older designs for the Disgaea kids. I got so excited to redraw it and tweak their designs! It's WILD how much I've improved since then... Under the cut I've included a comparison and design notes as a bonus~!
2022 vs 2025 Comparison ─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ── 2025 Design Notes Laharl • In the old design, I gave him a crop top because of a funny headcanon that I never got around to doodling. With the jacket on and no shirt, Laharl might think he looks like Midboss and he didn't like that. However, his RPG Anniversary outfit makes it seem like he wouldn't actually mind. So, no shirt this time. • I removed the long sleeves to give him a more combat-ready look. • His antennae are back to looking like the original. Just a tad longer. I didn't want to copy his dad's look too much. • Took off the pouch because I didn't see a need for it. Laharl never had one in his designs if I recall. • His bangs are closer to his original look now. I don't remember my thought process behind the old look. Maybe it was just a style thing? • Kept Flonne's pendant on him but you don't need to draw it all the time. Etna • Changed her cuffs to be longer to resemble Rozalin, including the little cape(?) thing attached to her wrist bracelets. Thought it would give the illusion of a four winged look. A cute little match with Flonne. • Other then that, nothing much as changed besides the look of her high thighs which gives off the shape of a heart in the middle. • Yes, her outfit resembles a Succubus's outfit on purpose. This is due to the popular theory that Etna herself is a succubus demon due to how she acts. • I took away her collar with the ring on it for two reasons: To symbolize letting King Krichevskoy go and the funny headcanon that it doesn't work with her look now that she's... grown. Flonne • I tweaked her outfit to make her look more mature. So she has her shoulders exposed with a red pendant that is like Seraph Lamington's. Kept the long sleeves to match him too. • Originally, I gave her a mermaid dress look. But then I changed it to be loose like her angel forms since that matches her personality more. • Her bow is now in the back of her hair! This was an idea given by a friend and its crazy how it makes her look more motherly. • Added her favorite flowers on her braid for a cute symbolic touch. • If you look closely, she has a little fang even if she is back to being an angel. I thought it would be cute and show that, yes, she was once fallen. That happened. • Bonus note: She does have four wings like the Seraph. SPOILERS for Disgaea Light Novel - Returned, there is a section where Lamington asks Laharl what he thinks of Flonne. Though Laharl didn't have an answer right away, the Seraph turns away and murmurs "Yes, there is still time, before my life fades..." So I took that into account and thought it'd be fitting to headcanon that she does take his place in the future.
