I started out on Winter 10, so I could immedieatly give Sebastian his obsidian. Happy birthday! It gave me the last two hearts I needed for Pierre to start stocking bouquets in his shop. I'm really conflicted on when to give it to him, though... it's a conundrum of my own making, just because I can't decide on a "best time". I think I should upgrade the farmhouse first... It really is a puzzle...
Other than that, I spent the time mining away. I need to collect so many resources and it takes so long. Maybe it's because I don't have the necessary tool upgrades, or I'm not optimizing properly. I'll go on lucky days with a rabbit's foot that one of those flying lizards dropped in the Skull Caverns. They also really like dropping spicy eel, which increases your luck. If I did that, then I think finding the ores I need would be a cinch. I really do need the ores, though... Spring is coming, and I want to at least have quality sprinklers. I've got the pathing all mapped out with wooden planks, all I need is the actual gadget. And for that? I need to be in the rubber room with rats that makes me crazy (The skull caverns). It's worth it, though. Imagine all the big produce the farm could grow! neat organized rows with signage. If there's storage in a video game, I'm indexing.
When spring rolls around, I plan on going to the cindersap forest to catch a ton of carp for fertilizer. With time frozen, I should have all the carp, seeds, and fertilizer I need on day 1 to ensure that the crop - heavy bundles get completed by the end of spring/summer.
I'll need them done because I really need that greenhouse. When it gets fixed, the first thing that needs to be grown in there is wheat since I need the hay for the animals. The amount of creatures on the farm is slowly growing, and I have to feed them all. The silo is still plenty stocked, but they eat every day, so they need food every day.
I'll need bigger storage facilities, since the amount of things is quickly growing. I've fished up so many different ... well, fish... that I've filled 2 chests almost entirely. The other slots are housing fishing-related items like bobbers, bait, and roe. I'll have to consider getting a third big shed to house chests. The hunt for wood starts early. I'll have to clear the quarry and cycle through planting and harvesting trees there, so we have the amount of wood we'll need to build all these structures. The planning is quickly outpacing capacity, so I'll have to pivot into upgrading my tools before much gathering can be done.
I'm sure I've done most I can when it comes to gaining exp, so I'll have to get the tools for the job. I've mostly been using the tools I've had since the beginning of the game, and it's the end of year 1. I've always been terrible about upgrading my tools on time.
But that's all for next week.
