Just finished my Phone Interview!
My interviewer’s name was Maria, and she was really sweet! She asked about my previous programs, work experience and roommate situations. We went over the basics: Disney Look, role specifics, Four Keys review, and then she asked about my favorite memories and best magical moments.
Overall I think I did good, but I always have doubts after my interviews! She said they’re doing all of the hiring decisions at the end of March, but then again, I got my acceptance for my first summer alumni program 11 days after my interview. Hopefully all goes well and I’ll be back to Flo’s in May!
I’ll be praying like crazy between now and March; need lots of pixie dust!

I’ve seen multiple facebook groups and always tend to find the same questions being asked. Here is my opinion and take on each of these questions.
I am not happy with my role of _________, can I change my role? No, it is insanely hard to change your role, the only times is when it becomes a health issue to someone. If there is anything that may be of a health concern, let recruiting know. I had a roommate who used a wheelchair and was accepted for attractions but they told her they would change her role to merchandise, however even that was hard to do it.
Should I bring a car? If you can, then yes. The busses aren’t the best, especially if you work at a park. The worst is grocery shopping though. If you can bring a car, then do it. But don’t go to the extreme of buying a car when you get down there, just to have one (unless you will stay after your program)
What are my discounts? There is a lot. A LOT. I don’t think anyone knows every single discount you get. The best place is the hub to find any information about just about anything. The main discounts are you get 6 maingates during your program, ~50% resort discount, 20-40% off merchandise depending on the time of year (40% is from October-February). 20% off some dining locations. 10% off park tickets.
What color shoes do I need for _______? Wait to buy them after you know for sure, each location is different. In QSFB I had black and white tennis shoes. For CAC I had white tennis shoes, sandals, and crocs. You may need boots, flats, white/black tennis shoes. Just wait until you get there and start training, they will tell you exactly what you need.
On my dashboard it says Vista Way, is that where I am living? Vista Way is where check in takes place. That isn’t saying you will live there. You won’t find out until you check in. You will fill out DORMS (I believe it comes 10 days before check in) and indicate your top choices with complexes and number of roommates.
When will I know where I work?!? Check in/first day of training. If you are in a role like attractions you may only found out “Tomorrowland attractions” on check in, but the first day of training you will find out exactly where.
I’m still in progress, should I contact recruiting? No, don’t. As you already know, thousands apply each semester. If you haven’t heard anything the last day (which this term is April 20th) THEN contact them. As they have said, most acceptances won’t go out until late March. Some will get sent out earlier, some will go out later. Be patient.
How easy is it to get termed? If you don’t care about your career with Disney, then pretty easy. 99.9% of those who have been termed that I know of, have done something stupid. From stealing at work, underage drinking, calling out too much, cash handling problems, going straight against Disney’s rules. That isn’t to say there are sadly some cases when it was just the case of being at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
What does this acronym mean? Disney loves their acronyms. NLIC, WBI, PI, DCP, MK, DAK, ADO, ER, Code V, and literally hundreds more. To be honest, you learn as you go. I know there are blogs that do list multiple acronyms though so if you are that interested, just search and you will find it.
What is traditions?/What do I wear for traditions? Traditions is your first day of being a Disney cast member. It lasts a few hours, it is lots of videos and learning about working for the company. It is long, it is exciting, it is a lot of information. You wear business casual for traditions and they will send you home if you are not dressed properly. What would you wear to a job interview? Go with that. It is better to be over dressed than under dressed.
