So in the beginning of The Little Mermaid, Ariel and Flounder are exploring a sunken ship. I never noticed all the other sunken ships surrounding it. Wtf is up with that area of the ocean to sink so many boats? The waters seem calm. But you know what does sink ships if not bad weather? Sirens. And that ship graveyard is right near the mermaid metropolis of Atlantica…. What if King Triton doesn’t want Ariel visiting the surface because she’s too young to know about their human killing ritual (it’s a mermaid rite of passage into adulthood they keep secret from children until they’re strong enough to control their siren song). He was worried about her liking humans too much and growing up to be the mermaid equivalent of a vegan.
