A Whole New World By Zayn and Zhavia Ward
Alright. Do you all know what I'm excited for? The live action remake of Aladdin.
I am so hyped.
The trailer looks bomb, the actors seem amazing, the music (what we've heard of it, anyway) sounds absolutely legit.
AND THIS COVER.
HOLY CANNOLI.
It weaves in cultural sound, the duet of voices perfectly complement one another, and it is a contemporary take on a classic Disney song. It is prince and princess love in modern form and I definitely am not equipped to handle it.
Zhavia's voice is dark while maintaining a feminine quality that makes her sound like a badass, strong princess. Zayn's voice is just as dark (thought it has some notable bright, light moments throughout the track) and it makes him sound like a real life Aladdin. This is potentially my favorite Disney re-sound, and they gave us Ariana Grande and John Legend for Beauty and the Beast (which I didn't think could be beaten).
And let's talk about the video. It's gorgeous? I love it? It is dimly lit and the artists are backlit several times by this gorgeous yellow glow that almost feels like a sunset, but more intimate. And then Zhavia is on the rooftop and it literally looks like she's glowing in the moonlight.
Do you see the beauty? Do you hear it? It's like a whole new world of experience and that feeling has never been more fitting.
Partial audio transcription of part of the TinkerBell and the Lost Treasure soundtrack by Joel McNeely, recorded.
(I’m not a producer, so these are unedited recordings made with my crappy laptop mic.)

The Gifts of Beauty and Song/Maleficent Appears/True Love Conquers All composed by George Bruns
This song has always reminded me of a lullaby. The studio chorus that was used to sing of Aurora's gifts could lull me to sleep at just about any time. They are just so peaceful and docile and beautiful. And in addition to that, the music they sing atop is absolutely stunning and magical.
Then Maleficent appears and everything takes on this inky, dark feeling. The malice is unmistakable and it completely changes the tone of everything that has come and is to come; it alters the entire story.
And then we shift back to that peaceful lullaby--because, in the end, true love conquers all. There is hope in the darkness--light at the end of the tunnel. It is an instrumental representation of that saying: "It'll be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end,"
That saying, the representation of it in sound, is the embodiment of a fairytale--the happily ever after is out there. True love will find you. Peace and good fortune exist. And I think that's what makes this piece so endearing--it croons to that gentle place inside of us that still believes in fairytales.
Because I finally watched MOANA yesterday and it seems I can’t get enough of it!! WHAT AN AWESOME MOVIE!!! GO WATCH IT NOW!!!
