Why not have Aurora in historical armor? She's a princess, in medieval times, so things are going to get messy. And don't tell me that women never fought in battle or can't wear armor, cause that is absolute bullshit.  

I kept to the 1430s feel to this, mixing a bit of Milanese and "English" models of armor. Originally I included a helmet, but it made her less recognizable. So let's just say she's getting ready and standing on a hill with epic music playing. 

Oh and a little coat of arms too. Originally, I had it on her dress, but it made it look to busy. And her shield is covered up, so just pretend her coat of arms is on the other side of it.

disney warrior chronicles: mundane woke-up-early post

i'm awake almost hours before i wanted to be.  i could do things today or i could play kingdom hearts or do other didney-related things. believe it or not...

...i'm currently conflicted. o_o

*clears throat*

Anyway, to justify this post's existence, I want to talk *briefly* about two Disney movies that have an uncommon connection:

Those two movies are Mary Poppins and Tron.

What connects them?  They are not part of the Walt Disney Animated Classics canon, but they represent significant technical achievements on the part of Disney.  One of them comes from Walt's era, one comes from nearly twenty years after his death, but they both, even though not part of the WDAC canon, have attained a status much higher than many members of the canon itself.

So yeah.  Just a thought.  ^^;

I wanna say a slightly longer thing and then I'ma go do other not-Tumblr things:

This whole "Disney Warrior" thing originated as a hashtag I used on my now-defunct Twitter, so it's not exactly got the greatest intellectual pedigree you could ask for.

But here's what I want you to know:

When I call myself a "Disney Warrior," I mean that I am proud to be a Disney fan and that I strive to keep doing a better job of it.  I'm really new to being a grown-up Disney fan.  I got into Disney only indirectly (through Kingdom Hearts) and I've got a lot of time to make up for between when I stopped being a real Disney fan (around 2000 or so, when I was just a pre-teen) and 2007, when I formally rejoined the fandom.  But only in the last three years have I really worked towards better understanding this entertainment company.

I believe that to be the best fan I can be, I need to acknowledge where Disney's shortcomings- be they artistic, social, or commercial- occur and speak out on those things.  If someone you cared about was doing something that hurt them or others, you'd speak out too.

But I also care about learning and experiencing new things. If I get a piece of Disney trivia wrong, I want to be corrected on it.  I want to learn new things whenever possible, but ultimately I want to *experience* those things.  That won't be easy.  Some classic Disney rides and park operating systems have fallen by the wayside, and that's normal!  That's what Walt would want, so long as the company kept "plussing" its experience.  But also I'm a writer and a retail worker.  I'm basically poor as shit, living rent-free with family while trying to save up enough money to strike out on my own.  So when I say I'm a "Disney Warrior," I mean that I have to work hard to be as much a part of things as I can.  It's not easy and I can't do a lot, but I do what I can.
