First request taken and honestly loved that theres basically nothing with this woman. I wish she had more screentime!
It was just meant to be a normal day at the office. You were currently finishing off documents before a deadline. Sipping your coffee, you wonder how much slower the clock could go, you had just started and already wanted to leave. Just as you started to continue your work you heard a loud crash come from outside.
"What the hell was that!" Your boss screamed from across the room and went to go look out the window to see what was happening. Everyone in the block started to make their way to the window. Pushing past all the people you could see a villain blowing up nearby buildings. Looking around your building was one of the few left standing.
Before all of you became targets everyone had started to rush out of the building. As you left you could see rubble covering the floor, you decided escaping without being seen would be your best option. Running seemed like a great option till you remembered how difficult it was to run in heels. Unfortunately your lack of observation caused you to trip over the rubble scattered on the ground.
Just as you could get a grip on the situation you looked up and see part of the office building hurdling towards you. Just as you were accepting your fate the rubble was destroyed. A woman stood Infront of you as her back took all the impact. She stood there as if it was nothing.
Rubble had broken from the impact and littered around the both of you. She went towards you and picked up your small frame running with you in her strong arms. You felt your cheeks heat up as her muscled arms held you close to your body. Once you reached safety she placed you down on the ground.
"How are you feeling, I'd be surprised if a small thing like you wasn't hurt, unless your just secretly strong and wanted me to save you?" She cocked and eyebrow when looking down at you. "I... uh, I'm fine. Thank you for saving me." You replied to her in a small voice.
"Brickhouse," she raised her arm out to shake your hand, "nice to meet you. I'm glad I got the honor of saving such a beautiful woman." She had a cocky look on her face. Taking her powerful hand in yours, you told her you name. Without any warning she span you around.
"Well (Y/N) I hope to see you again, just hopefully not when you're in danger. Maybe over dinner?"
(Sick of the lack of Brickhouse content, so I thought I'd write a but of self indulgence. The reader's gender will remain neutral, so all of yall can get on the action.)
You sat quietly at the back of the crowded bus with your earphones on as you attempted to calm your nerves. Your leg was bouncing up and down rapidly as you looked out of the window, watching the bus move at a snail's pace with nothing else to see but heavy amounts of traffic. Los Angeles was notorious for this, especially downtown, but you thought you had planned everything perfectly to make it on time, if not earlier, for your job interview. Yet despite all of that, life, fate, destiny, or whoever, decided that you in particular needed to be reminded that life is a game of chance, leaving you stuck on a pack bridge halfway to your destination, while being crammed inside so tightly that you barely had any space to spread your legs at least a little.
While you had your music at the max volume, even that did little to distract you from the ever-creeping dread that trailed up your spine. This was such a major opportunity for you, and it was all going to be for naught because of the horrible LA traffic. While you were trying to make peace with yourself at the prospect of being late, little did you know that everyone in the bus but you was laser-focused on some sort of commotion going on ahead... if the sight of several people fleeing for their lives and destructive nosies coming your way wasn't already an attetion grabbing.
It wasn’t until you felt the bus violently shake as a piece of debri crashed onto the front, causing it to jolt up slightly, lauching you and various other passengers forward before it crashed back down.
"WERE IS PHENOMAMAN!!!"
You look up to see a hulking, monsterus rotund ball of muscle with various arms protruding from its body, each of them smashing or tossing vehicles around while people ran ducking for cover. Monster attacks really weren't something new or uncommon to encounter, hell it pretty much happned twice a week, but there was difference between watching one on the news, and actully experiencing one...... and it was getting close.... real close!
Before any of the emergency exits could be opened, the thing grabbed the front end of the bus, lifting it up with ease. You grabbed onto the nearest pole quickly as you watched several people tumble down the aisle, piling on top of each other as they pushed up against the glass. The thing let out a balegerant scream as it threw the bus to the side with great force, causing it to shake and bounce before coming to stop as it crashed.
You felt... an ememce amount of pain rush through your body as you were processing everything. The sound of groans, coughs, and panicked breathing filled the bus as things started to settle down. It turns out the human body wasn't meant to be shaken around like a bunch of marbles. As you recovered, however, you looked back and felt yourself tense up... as you realized the back end of the bus was off the bridge, barely balanced by the amount of people inside. Everyone was perfectly still as they were frozen with fear, only able to watch on as the beast continued to rampage on the bridge, smashing down its fists causing the bridge to tremble, and with it the bus.
Then, suddenly, a red, blue colored haze smashed into the beast, launching it backward. The force of the attack caused a shockwave to desperce outwards. The bus then began to tilt backward. You fell onto the backend window, getting a clear view of just exactly how high up you were as it was at the brink of free fall. Your whole body felt numb as this was about to be the end of you, closing your eyes tightly as it went further and further backward.
However, just as it was about to fall, the descent then suddenly stopped, followed by the groaning sounds of metal before you and everyone else felt themselves being lifted up back to safety. The door was ripped right off, a green hand gensutrering people outwards, you were pretty out of it due to the sudden chain of events so you didn't quite get a good look at exactly who was rescuing you, but you were still able to hear them.
"Move it people! Sometime today would be nice!"
No one seemed to argue as everyone in the bus soon got up on their feet and started spilling out... you, however, were being trampled underneath, unable to get up as each time you tried, you found yourself knocked down again. It was only until the bus was practically emptied that you managed to get up on your feet, limping while trying to sprint out. The blue and red haze then came back, slamming down on the ground, which caused cracks to form on the bridge.
Unable to take any more super-powered abuse, the solid ground holding the bus up started to break away, tilting the bus backward again. You pushed through the pain, practically crawling towards the exit, but... it just wasn't enough as you barely made it out of the door. The bus dropped like a sack of bricks, leaving you in free fall as you felt yourself begin to decend.
You pretty much felt dead at that moment as your soul left your body, life flashing right before your eyes. However, instead of falling down and turning into a stain on the pavement below, a rather large green hand held you by the neck of your shirt, leaving you dangling but not falling. You arched your head up just a little, meeting face to face with your savior.
"Gotcha!" She said, letting out a sigh of relief that sounded like she was holding in her breath for quite a while.
You were left... pretty speechless as you were pulled right up, your legs unable to hold as you were gently placed on solid ground, collapsing onto your knees in an instant. You looked up to see your towering savior, her head aligned at just the right angle for the sun to gleam right off her orange goggles. She was rather tall. Even if you sat up right at best, your head would barely meet right up to her shoulder.
She had greenish yellow skin, short blond hair, and a rather muscular physique that was accentuated by her attire, which consisted of a yellow trench coat and a white leotard with various blue belts. You kept your gaze on her for just a little longer until her snapping snapped (pun intended) you out of your trance.
"Hey, hey! You ok?" She said, her look of concern slowly turning into a knowing smirk, crossing her arms. "You know if you're gonna stare, you should probably take a picture, might last a bit longer. Buuut... can't say I blame ya, no one's got pythons like these~"
She said, flexing one of her arms, which made the muscles bulge through her trech coat as she gave her bicep an air kiss.
You felt a bit flustered as she pointed out your staring, standing back up quickly as your tripped over your own words.
"S-sorry I just um, well I.... thank you. T-thank is what I should be saying."
She chuckled rather confidently. "No problem, it's my pleasure. Now I think you should probably start running cause things are about to get-"
She was cut off as the beast and the red and blue blur clashed again, said blur being Phenomaman, who was tanking multiple hits from the multi limbed creature, it barely gave him time to rest as it threw him off the bridge, following suit as it screamed his name.
"Yeah, that." With no time to lose the hero that saved you from the brink of death stretched a bit, walking towards the action before stopping suddenly and looking back at you. She smiled again and gave your a short farewell two fingered salute before breaking off into a sprint and jumping off to join Phenomaman with his fight.
You just stood there a loss for words, your cheeks were red, your heart was pouring, it felt like you were about to collapse all over again.
Yet despite all that had just happned you could only really think of one thing......
"I am seriously gonna be late for that interview....."
(This is my first time doing a reader fic, so please give me your critiques. I am all ears. And i hope i managed to give the same energy Brickhouse has in the game for the breif voice lines we get from her.)
A-Team headcanons, bcs these guys are seriously underrated
Sweetalker
his real name is John
staunch pacifist, firm believer of 'there's always a non-violent way', but will acknowledge that sometimes violence is necessary, even though he's not a fan of it
technically speaking he could fight, he has the physique and is naturally strong but he really doesn't like it. his team respects that and tries to deal with combat-heavy calls without him if it's possible
he has a bit of a compelling voice, but it only really works when whoever he's talking to already trusts him. so his smooth-talking is like 10% his power, 90% his own skill
pansexual, a bit of a romantic, falls in love easily but this often leads to him being more invested in a relationship than his partner.
often has to play mediator because while the A-team isn't nearly at Z-Team level of dysfunctional they do still bicker quite a lot at times
definitely knows there's certain people who would be all over him specifically bcs of the whole lizardman-thing but tends to keep away from those types since he wants a real relationship, not be a lust object
not above flirting to get his way, but will draw the line at seriously leading someone on
tends to negotiate with the higher-ups for the team whenever they need something like new equipment, more days off or a raise
Brainbook
her real name is Emily
extremely socially awkward, not very diplomatic, her bluntness can come across as arrogance or condescension sometimes
a bit of a temper but knows how to keep a lid on it
bad at hand-to-hand combat but knows how handle a laser-gun or taser in emergencies
the team's leader and strategist, her plans have a 90% success rate, she tends to take it badly whenever one fails
her glasses are prescription. the yellow lenses help filter out blue light, which she needs because she spends a lot of time on her tablet or otherwise looking at screens for her job
very sexually active (sex is good for stress relief) but aromantic. casual sex? yes. an actual relationship? no, thanks
she has like ten different phds, no one but her can remember them all
her super-intelligence has her always snacking on something sweet to keep her brain active. will sometimes steal the snacks of other team members for that purpose then act oblivious/insulted when they realize and suspect it was her
Equilibrium
Equilibrium is the only name they've ever had and known. they see no reason to change it. though maybe they will add another one. two names make for a more balanced number than one after all
goes by they/them and it/its pronouns, they're a robot so gender isn't really a thing for it
was created by Brainbook during a staffing shortage as an additional team member when the A-Team was being stretched thin by an enormous influx of calls
due to being created to balance out the team, they're extremely focused on the idea of "balance" in general. they will insert it into their job and daily life constantly
it can change its voice on demand, but prefers the more female-sounding one over the alternatives
their body is transformable, they can form all sorts of origami-esque shapes or fold in on themselves to become smaller
good pals with Royd, he often helps it with it's maintenance
people often assume they're insecure about not being a "real" person. they aren't. they think being a robot fucking rules actually, why would they want to trade this perfectly balanced body for anything else?
nigh indestructible but hates getting dirty because it creates visual disharmony in their appearance.
Pom-Pom
her real name is Chloe
youngest team member, in her early twenties, still goes to college
she's an actual cheerleader, much of her fighting style is inspired by her routines
joined the team after Equilibrium was created, due to her great performance catching Brainbook's attention
has some mildly enhanced strength and durability, but aside from that she's all old-school training
used to be an independent hero, took the SDN job to pay off her student loans, doesn't want to bother her parents with it since her family is already not especially well off
the most popular with teens and kids out of the A-Team, is often sent to schools for career days to explain what an SDN hero does
loves animals, will often try to smuggle some into the SDN building, gets caught and reprimanded every time, will never stop trying regardless
she has a social media account for her superhero persona and also manages the A-Team's collective account. the follower count on both is high and only keeps rising
Brickhouse
her real name is Susan
she often gets mistaken for an alien, but she's actually from a paralell Earth. the distinction is important to her and she's annoyed when people get it wrong (which they do often)
gym rat, posts a lot of workout selfies and videos to the A-Team's social media and keeps a strict diet
Phenomaman was her gym buddy before being hit by The Great Depression and dropped from the downtown branch. she's tried to replace him with any member of the team, but Brainbook and Equilibrium weren't interested, Pom-Pom was too busy and Sweetalker politely but firmly declined
due to being from another dimension, she eats stuff that is perceived as weird in the regular one. girl can and will snack on actual rocks and then wonder why everyone's looking aghast
she marathons the cheesiest romance movies in her free time, cries waterfalls at every single one, the rest of the A-Team has to limit her contribution to movie night because they all know she's going to bring an entire movie series that lasts well into the day if she's not stopped
in her dimension, conflicts were settled in one-on-one brawls and it took her a while to get adjusted to the fact that you can't just deck everyone who disagrees with you/pisses you off here. she thinks it's stupid and overly complicated
really good with kids, but also prone to overindulging them, she's weak for puppydog eyes
she's a horrible liar because back in her home dimension there was simply no need for deception, everyone was very straight-forward (and violent) with each other. she's also terrible at acting
Some other General headcanons:
the A-Team is under a lot of pressure due to being seen as SDN's finest and they all cope with it differently. Phenomaman's breakdown and resulting firing made it worse as now everyone kept side-eyeing them, wondering if SDN's darling cracked and wiped out so easily, how long will it take for the rest to do the same?
while they all liked and got along just fine with Phenomaman, none of them were especially close with him, due to a mix of Katon just sucking at interpersonal relationships and his reputation as a living legend keeping the rest of the team at a respectful distance. they're happy he's found himself with the Z-Team though
Sweetalker and Brickhouse have a 'will they won't they' going. Pom-Pom ships it, Equilibrium is indifferent and Brainbook hasn't noticed yet
Pom-Pom has managed to make Equilibrium and Brickhouse accomplices in her small cute animal smuggling just by showing said animals to them
Brickhouse "That is the cutest thing I have every laid eyes on, I am going to protect it with my life" - Pom-Pom "Sooo, you'll help me-" - Brickhouse "YES!"
Equilibrium "Marvelous! Such perfectly symmetrical features! Those utterly round eyes! I see no reason why such a complete being shouldn't be in here!" - Pom-Pom "Right???"
Really silly idea\though because I randomly remembered that Date Everything and Dispatch share a lot of voice actors.
Basically characters who share a VA with someone in the other game swap outfits.
List of who swaps with who (will be putting the Date Everything characters first, just for my own personal ease of organization):
- Harper swaps with Invisigal
- Chance swaps with Shroud
- Luke swaps with Phenomaman
- Errol swaps with Lightningstruck
- Beverly swaps with Brickhouse
- Beau swaps with Brainbook
Honorable Mention/Bonus:
Jonah had auditioned to be Robert, which means there was almost another on the list of VAs that overlap between the games. So.., Eddie swaps with Robert (specifically Eddie because I’ve seen others point out things he has in common with Robert.)
I don’t plan to do anything with this, just thought it was a fun idea and I wanted to share it.
Golem struggle to understand humans - he get it most of times, he have a lot of expirience with them. But sometimes he was completly clueless.
Like in times when it come about parenting. Especially if your adopted child is baby kaiju.
So I have headcanon that Golem periodically start ask question - in person and in internet - about parenting, without bother explain that small fact.
Like "How can I explain to my girl that she can't play with cars?" or "Girl start shread skin in big patches, does this ok?".
As result he catch a lot of blowback, accusations in bad parenting, etc. "Why girl can't play with cars? Cars is not only for boys".
Then he try explain that he don't want girl play with cars, because drivers of this cars become very scared when girl pick car. At lest she not throw them and not eat *sigh*. But this parts was usually buried under mount of angry answers.
Brickhouse (and few other SDN heroes, but mostly she. I ship them, ok?) try give answers (sometimes just ask her parents what they do, when she was child).
