Identikit (1974)
Recomend books with characters going insanee (I haven't read many books on the topic but I'm interested)
oh
well
You see
I do not like characters who go insane at all, so it wouldn't be something I would recommend, but if you're really, really curious to study them, here are some books I've had to read for college that involve disturbed/insane characters:
As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner
Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
The Linwoods by Sedgwick (a character begins a spiral that could lead to insanity but eventually comes back to their right mind more or less)
Wieland by Charles Brockden Brown (THIS ONE IS A GOTHIC HORROR NOVEL, AND SO IS FAR MORE DISTURBING IN DETAIL THAN SOME OTHERS LISTED HERE)
The Awakening by Kate Chopin
Ones that I have read that weren't specifically for school assignments:
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells
In some of these books, one or more characters in the book are progressing toward insanity, while in some of them, like The Invisible Man, the disturbed character has already pretty much lost it by the time of the story's events.
As I said in the beginning of this post, I am NOT a fan of characters descending into insanity. So, if you're like me, you can use this list to know which books to NEVER READ in the future. :)
your characters may be weird but thats why we like em!! You need to draw more Sweeny and Toby! PLEEEZE! :/// (and thank you for answering my ask!! you need to find the time for these guys because i miss them!
They are, disturbed in different ways. Toby ends up in an asylum, grappling with his own thoughts and imaginings and of course Sweeney is a methodical serial killer, completely immoral… not Disney material, that’s for sure!
Ugh! I know… :(
Personal Favorite Disturbed Characters:
Jinx (league of legends) Andrew (Chronicle) Harry and Electro (The amazing spiderman 2) Moriarty (Sherlock) Dean & Sam (supernatural) ...And many more!
