My daughter is making a special gift for @disunplugged because she likes #bobvarley daddy might have a little something for them too. #disunplugged #disney #podcast (at Indianapolis, Indiana)
Howdy Folks!
What a classic Disney greeting phrase that is, and quite fitting too. After much thought and deliberation, I have decided to set up a blog centred around Disney! To be honest like I would be able to blog about much else. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while and I’ve just never gotten round to it, well thankfully now I’ve managed to slide away from nerding out about everything and anything about Disney to try and impart some knowledge onto someone else other than my family who’ve probably heard it all before.
My plan is to post weekly updates of Disney news which could be anything about the movies or parks or any other major events going on. I will also be posting occasional helpful hints for the parks, especially Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida since this is my home park (even though I live in Scotland?) and it the park I’m most often finding news about. I’ll also be including a Countdown to WDW since I’m going on a trip with my family this summer, so I’ll be posting about different things I’ve been doing that week to prepare for it, this will probably tie in with the helpful hints part of the blog? And lastly at the end of each weekly round-up I’m wanting to include a recommendation for something Disney-themed. This could be anything from another blog, a YouTube channel, a book or anything along those lines. Just thought it’d be something fun to include so you folks can expand your own Disney knowledge like I have through these.
So, I think this may be the end to my first ever blog post, which is just an introduction of what I’m planning to do. I’ve planned to do all this but if this all comes to fruition each week I will have surprised myself! Hopefully this will be fun for you folks to see as well as me to write it but let’s just see how it goes. And I’ll start as I mean to finish by giving you guys my first recommendation.
This week’s recommendation is a YouTube channel called DIS Unplugged (https://www.youtube.com/user/DISUnplugged). I’ve been kind of obsessed with them recently, they mainly post about Walt Disney World and they have multiple shows per week such as their Dining Show, Universal editions and best and worst’s. They are a great collective and I highly recommend them if you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World or if you’re a nerd like me and just like to see what’s going on in the parks!
Bullies prey on people they perceive as weak. That’s what they look for. … And they perceive you, or your loved ones who are disabled, as being weak. What they don’t understand is you’re not. Those words were spoken earlier this week by a man named Pete Werner during a weekly podcast he runs called DisUnplugged.
A prominent Disney expert talks about the treatment of disabled people in regards to the new Disney Access Card program and general attitudes of others towards disabled visitors of the theme parks. Thankfully the video starts right where he starts talking about the issue since it seems to be a podcast covering a range of topics. This guy has some seriously awesome things to say to people who make comments to disabled people and family members of disabled people while they are at the parks
I may have copied more than what Fair Use might have been comfortable with since this podcast isn't Creative Commons.
But just listen to this family who went to Disneyland and was commenting on the Rude behaviour of some of our guests!
Don't be those Profane, lawless, "I don't care" people in the parks! It's Disneyland, not a downscale mall or a bar! We have to respect other guests and cast members, you know.. the ones that make the place run for your enjoyment!
