cis people and the mental gymnastics they'll do to not have to recognize that someone is trans are hilarious. I have this friend from work, I like her a lot, she is very smart. she is however, completely in denial.

this woman knows that my legal name is different from the name she calls me. she has apparently assumed this is my second name.

and now, she found out I'm going to be the RA for All Gender Housing next year and her first reaction was "oh...and are you...cool with that...?" GIRLY I LOVE YOU BUT CONNECT THE DOTS

at this point I'm just seeing how far it goes

tonight I looked in the mirror and I had laugh lines

I've never been happier

these last 24 hours were spent completely amongst my queer, disabled peers: I went to an underground concert last night, got home at 3 am to listen to some super funny audios by a friend. got up at 12 and met up with friends for hours in the afternoon.

I didn't hear a single dead name or female pronoun. I could be unapologetic about drinking or smoking or going to a kinda nsfw concert. I got everyone's jokes and if I didn't they were more than willing to explain. everyone around me makes accommodation for my disability without even a second thought.

it really showed me that any chronic unhappiness I've been feeling isn't a me-personally problem but rather a i-need-to-be-surrounded-by-my-community problem

God my friends are so cool. we've been planning an out of country trip to the beach for over a year now and the week before we left my knee started killing me and it turns out it's tendinitis

I wanted to scream and cry and cancel everything but my friends told me "literally just come and move less than we originally planned, it's so okay"

they have carried my things for me when I needed to use both my crutches, helped me around the beach when using crutches was unfeasible bc of sand, traded beds with me bc my mattress sucked ass, left me the fuck alone when I said I needed a moment to cry in pain by myself and hugged me afterwards when I asked for it

and I wanna let yall know that I helped them back. I watch out for my friend to take her meds, for another's food sensitivity issues, for another's RSD that tends to get really bad in group situation when they feel left out

this isn't an exchange, friends just help each other out. if I wasn't doing anything for them, they would've still helped me with my mobility. and if they weren't helping me with my mobility, I would still help them as well

doing my final English project (a 10+ pages research paper) on cripplepunk as a conceptualization of disability, and arguably the most useful one for disabled people. i think i'll put the focus on its social media origins, its emphasis on the "angry/bitter" cripple as a foundation for the movement, and maybe i'll talk some about the overarching theme of alt cultures such as punk liberating the oppressed (connecting it with transness ofc because why not)

i'm so excited and also so scared because this is a lot of fucking work

and someone in your family will really appreciate it. my cousing was the annoying activist in the family and she is the single reason why i heard the term "transgender" in the first place. my family isn't excessively close minded but my grandparents lead a lot of the conversations so if she hadn't been "the leftist spectacle" each holiday, i'm not sure i'd be the person i am today
