"Declarative: Goodbye."
-Diversion Unit
Well, the Diversion Unit was a bust. I left this afternoon. It was extremely infantilizing. They wouldn't give me any of my OTC meds, which meant I didn't sleep and my reflux was terrible. They took my phone, and didn't let me use the internet, which means I was completely isolated with some random other clients and under-trained staff. The last straw was when I asked for my AS NEEDED anxiety meds, and they wouldn't give it to me, because I had refused it in the morning (I DIDN'T NEED IT THEN), and the pharmacy fucked up and didn't write "as needed" on the bottle. I had a panic attack. So they finally called the pharmacy, and found out, yeah, it's as needed. Then, the lady treated me like a child while I was anxious stimming. FUCK! Autism is on my chart assholes. Prior to this when I got up to go to my room when she was talking to me (because I had enough and I couldn't even really hear her) she told me to go to my room. And then, even though it is a voluntary program, they tried repeatedly to gaslight me into staying. "Give it another shot. Wait until your anxiety medication kicks in." You don't fucking understand. It took me well over an hour of being very anxious before I could be verbal enough to ask for my meds. Then, you made me wait another hour for you to do something the morning staff assured me would be done. It was a bunch of hardly graduated from college kids in the staff who were in very tangentially related fields like Criminal Justice and Sociology. Just-- just to hell with that. I value my autonomy more than almost anything. It was the last thing I had through this episode, and they tried to take it away. They were going to keep me for a week, but I made it 18 hours. I'm not even going to start on what a huge deal my being vegetarian was to these asshats.
