Harvest Season (Amonkhet) - Shreya Shetty

“This is ridiculous, Djeru. I could easily outrun everyone else present, vehicles or no, while they wait here.”
Hazoret’s vizier gnashed his teeth as he turned away from his goddess to gesture to the other racers. “I know!” Djeru hissed. “But remember, the point is to have a fair competition.”
“Very well. I shall wait for the signal.” A brief pause. “Four counts, correct?”
“Correct. Then you can show your stuff all you want.”
Hazoret smiled at this, and assumed a sprinter’s stance. She stared ahead at the starting light - actually looking down rather than up at it, due to her stature. It blinked red once, twice, three times, then finally turned green.
“Go, go, go!” Djeru cheered.
With a resounding boom, Hazoret kicked off. Clouds of sand followed her footfalls as she easily passed each racer, on foot.
“I have not run like this in a long time,” Hazoret admitted to Djeru, her thunderous voice reaching her vizier all the way back at the starting line.
“It’s good to see you back in form!” Djeru roared at the top of his lungs. “Just…watch out, behind you!”
“What-” was all Hazoret managed, before a spiked blue shell disturbed her footing. At her speed, a slight bump was sufficient to send her skidding to a stop amid the endless sand. She remained face-down as the other racers caught up and passed her. This included a Guidelight robot, formerly in dead last, whose screen flashed to a laughing face as it advanced.
“Hazoret!” Djeru cried, already running into the desert. “Are you all right?”
Hazoret’s fists clenched against the dunes. All around her, the material began to heat and hiss as she arose. By the time Djeru caught up to her, both stood atop a small island of glass.
“My body is unharmed,” growled the goddess. “My pride…”
“Unbelievable!” Djeru barked, immediately siding with Hazoret. “An underhanded blow from the…machine in last place!”
Hazoret’s scowl suddenly turned wry. “…No. I was longing for an unfair fight. I simply received it.”
[My first impression upon seeing this Hazoret was “Dang, this would be realll busted without the speed restriction...Wait, that’s probably the point.”]
Things we can ascertain from this as being absolutely and totally canon:
Teysa Karlov collects paintings of other pale black-haired women (Cunt Knows Cunt)
Her collection likely focuses on women from other planes, likely even before planeswalkers became common knowledge.
There is/was a thriving interplanar art trade that we never heard about.
Liliana, Death's Majesty, was an in-universe painting that Liliana sat for.
Since they didn't really have time for that in the original story, it must have been on a previous visit (likely to confirm Amonkhet was Razaketh's home plane)
This means that Teysa Karlov had a painting of Liliana Vess in her collection at the time of War of the Spark.
Upon realizing she had a painting of Nicol Bolas's top general, she moved it to a place of prominence on the grand stair because that's a real fucking power move.
I cast Dawn upon you! ☀️
Tiya Satoketra, my DnD main character, Aasimar, lv.15 Cleric of Light, daughter of the empyrean Oketra the True, granddaughter of Pelor.
My group's 7 years long DnD campaign came to an end and I've been playing Tiya for 4 years now, when we started the campaign's second chapter set in Amonkhet. It's been a long, intense ride and I loved giving free space to my DM for Tiya's development, as I started with her being nothing more than one of the many young clerics of the temple, inexperienced and naive, innocent and scaredy, knowing nothing about her past or her future. She found herself, her path and her inner light thanks to the party, found her mother's love, freed her from imprisonment and saved the world. I love you, Tiya.
The hieroglyphs in the cartouches are "Tiya" (on the left, it was a real Egyptian queen's name) and Satoketra (on the right, Sat = daughter, I tried to write Oketra as faithfully as possible)

Made another pixelart MtG card. Love the eerie mood of Seb McKinnon's original piece.
