People that try to fight against irl diversity baffle me.
Like why are you mad?? Because you might have to work with or just exist alongside someone from a minority group?? Just say you're a bigot, why don't you?
And they're citing all these studies that say oH diVerSitY iS bAd fOr SociEty
What do you want us to do???? Go back to Jim Crow era??? You just really don't like human rights, do you?
You've got two options here. Diversity or segregation. There is no middle ground. If you don't like diversity, you like segregation and you're a bigot.
Just say you hate minority groups! Don't pretend you have a point! I know you're trying to get people to engage with you in discourse by pitching literal segregation as a debatable topic, but literally the only alternative to diverse spaces is segregated spaces.
Minority groups aren't just going to disappear if you don't like them. They have to go somewhere. Where would you propose? Should they legally be mandated to stay in their own neighborhoods and communities under pain of arrest? Oh wait—YOU'RE DESCRIBING A LITERAL GHETTO
All You Can Be
You never forget your first time – I would describe the feeling as unsettling; when you put your best self forward to explain why this opportunity is perfect for what you have to offer (highlighting all of the reasons your mommy and daddy told you that you're the most special person in the world) and no one cares.
I remember feeling a certain patriotic tingle as I approached the United States Army booth at the local job fair. As a newly initiated member of adulthood, my 19-year-old self realized that the logic fit perfectly (I fight all the time: older brother = I always win).
I don't know why I had never thought of this before.
… Until I looked at the recruiter's face. Apparently he was unable to envision how my top-of-the-line motorized wheelchair could, of course, be swapped out for a tank suitable for direct combat. Instead, the young man gestured for his superior to come over so that he could explain to me that my physical limitations would prevent me from fully participating in basic training, a requirement of all members of the United States Military.
For a moment, it felt so right. But I knew it would be up to me to find a different way to serve. Since that day, I have considered that reaction, a look that meets bewilderment with hesitation, to be like a good old friend who only appears when I explain to an organization that I'm the exact person they've been looking for all along. As humans, we tend to have a natural bias towards individuals who remind us of ourselves. We may not intend for it or realize when it's happening, but research shows that people are more at ease around those who demonstrate similar traits. If you don't believe me, you've never experienced that lump in your throat at a job interview as you realize you're the odd one out when compared to those on the other side of the boardroom table (or just say "please" and I will send you some journal articles on in-group and out-group bias). My point is this, the concept of defeat becomes a reality when we allow our concerns of being different to slow us down on the road to self-discovery. So, next time you're at a job interview, be prepared to explain all of the ways they are lucky you brought your unique qualities to the table … because it is the truth, and saying it is the best way to start believing it.
pplwkp said: i guess he’s bisexual
I DEFINITELY would not mind a Bisexual!Mack. I am Bisexual myself (seriously I ship people and get jealous of the both of them like for example I am jealous Candince Patton kisses Grant Gustin on the Flash cause I am not Candice Patton and get jealous Grant Gustin kisses Candice Patton cause I am not Grant Gustin lmao). But ANYWAY with the lack of Bisexual rep in media it’s either you are Gay or Straight....any sort of bisexuality is freaking awesome.
Well also need some more Queer!POC in Media as well. I mean so far I can count a few.
After seeing the Fantastic Four Trailer....I don’t know who I love more....Michael B Jordan or the possibility of how he is absolutely going to kick ass in the role as Johnny?
Thats what you get when you don’t follow the comic character appearance religiously....A+ Casting.
