Jean falls asleep on his shoulder. It’s not her fault he’s warm and comfy and safe.
Finishing some paperwork together had morphed into simply sitting, enjoying each other’s company as much as the space to breathe, work forgotten and time a slow, still thing, mattering a little less in the peace and quiet. Kaeya’s arm was hooked through hers, and though it didn’t surprise him that she was tired enough to drift off, when the weight of her head grew heavier he realized she’d fallen asleep, head pillowed on the fur at his shoulder.
Jean, Jean, Jean... you ought to sleep more. He thought, the chide an affectionate one, and one he knew would be hypocritical, coming from him.
For now, he was glad to serve as an anchor she could moor against, and perhaps catch up on a little much needed rest.
