It was bad enough that Ragna delayed this chase for so long... But now his copy had ended up running out of the city entirely in his panicked frenzy, down south to the place known as “Yesteryear.” The only info he had to by was what he could find on his phone; just general summaries and rumors of the old city. With limited information, time running out, and the knowledge that most-- if not all-- of his friends had their issues dealt with, the Grim Reaper made the long trek south for the abandoned city. The journey between cities was rather uneventful... until he arrived at the city border.
Turns out that someone took notice of his leave from Spirale... and out of all the people who could have noticed, it was someone who gave enough of a damn to end up following him all the way to Yesteryear--- Naoto Kurogane. When the youth was eventually caught near the outskirts of the old city, the two played out their usual routine of bickering as expected--- there might have been a few punches thrown in for good measure. But the severity of the issue at hand allowed them to end their typical squabble early; now was the time to focus on finding the missing doppelgänger.
The initial search was mostly spent in silence, the two mainly focused on the destroyed and abandoned landscape. There was a special sort of awe amid the destruction, time having spared no building or structure. It all reminded Ragna of old cities he and Jubei came across in their training, ones abandoned or destroyed during the course of the Dark War. But while many of those cities were clearly trampled over and demolished by the Black Beast, no such catastrophe was immediately obvious for the two.
With no signs of the clone yet, Ragna finally decided to speak up as he glanced over to the youth, who was trying to wipe sweat from his eyes.
“I still don’t get why you bothered coming here, brat. You’re puttin’ up with a lot of walking and climbing for a guy like me. And for the record--- I’m not carrying your tired ass around if ya pass out.“
