I love to think about this.
Daryl would not have left Paul.
And Paul had every reason to leave Daryl in that awful place, but he risked his life and returned for Daryl.

Timeline sort of jumps all over the place for this one, but the story is basically this:
Paul works at a coffee shop, and Daryl goes there every day to work on his art and drink coffee. Paul watches him from afar, but is shy, so never tries to talk to him. At a party for a mutual friend, while Daryl is capturing footage, he sees Paul, and is immediately captivated. He approaches him, and they hit it off. A few years later, they break up, but they are still very much in love.
**ADVISORY WARNING: This is another dark piece guys. It’s VERY dark. There’s abuse and dubcon content. If you don’t know what dubcon is, that means dubious consent, as in maybe a sexual act was/wasn’t consensual. If you are sensitive, please consider carefully before watching this video.**
Abuse is something I take VERY seriously, and is an extremely personal subject for me, so I didn’t enter into making this video lightly. It was super hard for me to make Daryl be this awful. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of sympathy for the character I have built for Daryl in this video. He doesn’t understand why he is the way he is. He hates it, but he also doesn’t know how to fix it. I knew someone very much like this a long time ago.
Summary: Daryl and Paul have been together for a few years, but it is a sinking ship. They fight all the time, mostly because Daryl is a giant fucking asshole. Paul wants to break up with Daryl, but it was SO good in the beginning, and he loves Daryl, more than anything, so he’s having trouble letting go. In the end, he can’t let go, he’s in love, even if it’s become toxic. So there’s only one thing left to do.

Paul is a struggling script writer who just got out of a relationship after his boyfriend cheated on him. What can he say? He loves bad boys. He meets Daryl at a bar, and true to form, he’s a bad boy with a heart of gold. Its love at first site, and like him, Daryl is an artist. After they first start dating he sees Daryl at the bar, and realizes he’s caught up with some very dangerous people. Paul doesn't care, he likes Daryl too much to walk away now, but his two best friends, don’t think it’s a good idea. Daryl knows they don’t approve, and if he was less selfish he would walk away, but he's addicted.
Paul doesn't know how deep into the shit he really is. He wants to be done. He really does. He just needs one real big score. However, Paul is starting to suspect how deep into the shit Daryl really is. He doesn't have any proof, but he suspects that there’s more to the story then he’s been told. He’s torn between being in love, and not wanting to get mixed up in anything seriously illegal. When Paul confronts Daryl, he can’t give him the answers he wants, so Paul breaks things off with him.
After 6 months apart, Daryl gives in and calls Paul. Paul tells him that he wants to see him. In 6 months, nothing has changed. He’s in love, the forever kind. When they meet up, Daryl confirms that the feeling is mutual. Paul hopes he can convince him to give up his more dangerous dealings, but if not, in for a penny in for a pound. Being apart was too hard. Daryl’s crew isn’t happy when they get back together. They feel like Paul is a good influence. Daryl is their best boost, and getaway driver. Paul’s friends don’t support their reunion either. When Daryl is confronted by his crew he refuses to lose Paul again, but warns him that trouble may be coming his way. After Daryl refuses to break up with Paul, his crew decides to use an enforcer to send a message to Paul instead.
When Paul shows up sporting stitches, Daryl wants to know why. When he tells Daryl what the enforcer told him before knocking him around a bit Daryl loses his shit. This is exactly what he DIDN’T want to happen, Paul getting mixed up with Frank and the rest of his crew. He goes and confronts Frank, pulling a shotgun on him, and they agree, one more job, and Daryl can be out, him and Paul will be allowed to go their own way. Paul doesn’t like it. It’s a bank heist. He’s got a bad feeling, and it turns into fight after fight.
Daryl wants to be done. He really does. He just needs one real big score so that he can finally open the gallery he’s always dreamed of. He wants to be a man Paul can be proud to be seen with. It’s never mattered before now, but at the heist everything goes wrong. No one was supposed to die, but they accidentally kill a bank teller, and the police are hot on their tail.
After Daryl is gunned down by the police, Paul is a mess. He’s been in love before, but not like this, NEVER like this. He’s suffering through the hardest loss of his life. He feels lost, empty, and like he’ll never be whole again. In the end, carrying on is just too hard to do alone.

Just a little bad boy falls for nice boy, and nice boy falls back, but he doesn’t want too.
