Day 58: BL scene that made your imagination go wild

Okay so this one took me a long time to decide but then I realized that I really only had one choice because there is only one scene that has ever grabbed me hook line and sinker for a ghost ship that I absolutely know will never happen but also what if?

This scene (and all the others lbr) sold me on PeteKenta so hard that I will never recover and will always mourn what could have been between them (to the point I wrote a mini ficlet about them. Shameless self promotion). I’m not sorry that I ship them more than their respective ships in the show (though I do love the pairs the actors are in a lot). I still want PeteKenta to happen so badly in s2 but alas I know it is not to be. Looking forward to any interaction these two have though.

Kenta is so put out at needing to be helped and kept safe. He's clearly fighting himself to stay cool about Pete wanting to help him (and Kim clocks it):

But most importantly, Kim recognizes what Pete's trust means. He knows enough about Pete and Kenta to understand they are deeply connected, and he sees Kenta's feelings more clearly than either Pete or Kenta do (that tiny eyebrow raise and almost smirk of Knowing?). So he gets the weight of the favor he's being asked for, he gets that that trust is a huge deal.

And he sees how much it means to Kenta, too, for Kim to have Pete's trust.

(There's just a lot going on here, and I need to cry about it, and then I need them all to kiss about it.)

Now that kimkenta kinda realised that their feelings are mutual and Kenta got taken immediately!! I want Kim to go absolutely barbaric with Pete and the X hunter team. (Bring that season one Kim energy back!!)

I also want him to give Pete a piece of his mind, and call him out in front of everyone about being an absolute jerk to Kenta and always treating him like a tool.

And now that Pete realised Chris isn’t some Way replacement but, literally Tony’s son!!!! (What!???) is Pete still gonna hang on to that weird attraction he felt?

I want Pete to regret treating Kenta the way he did and maybe even get super duper jealous when he sees Kenta having eyes only for Kim when they finally go to save him cz he (with a saviour complex) thought Kenta would look at him like he always has. (In my head Pete joins the rescue only to witness the kiss 🤭)

Call me petty but, I want to hear his heart shattering when he sees them KISS after the rescue! In broad daylight and in front of everyone unlike his shady business with Chris. I want him to regret all his decisions after realising that Kenta has moved on with an amazingly caring person like Kim (unlike his distant a55 who has nothing to offer).

Do I think they will show this in the following episodes…. NOPE. But I’m sure our fanfic writers out there are already working on this for all of us! 🩵

I really, truly clowned myself earlier in the season thinking this was Pete's stern but condescending way of showing that he cared and that he didn't want Kenta getting hurt. When really he just wants to be the one giving Kenta permission, bc did he offer any assistance when Kenta said he would take care of getting info off Kawin? Or did he just say "Okay" and leave Kenta standing there on the side of the road waiting for some kind of "Be careful" from Pete.

Like other ppl were saying it, yet I was all "but he DOES care about Kenta, just not the way Kenta wants him to" but naw. Kenta was absolutely right when he said this man never felt anything for him.

Anyways it's a good thing Kenta found someone who does care, who will actually make sure Kenta doesn't go into this alone, who will protect Kenta when he needs it.

What are we to each other?

I'm just slowly collecting these parallels for future purposes bc screencaps can't do this shit justice.

There's so much to be said about the contrast between these scenes, about the way Pete leaves and the way Kim refuses to let Kenta go on his own. Pete is almost passive in the face of Kenta's outburst, while Kim rises to Kenta's level of emotion- he meets Kenta where he's at. He tells Kenta all the things they are to each other, and more than that- what he wants them to be in the future.

Kenta is left reeling after both confrontations, but for entirely different reasons. When Pete walked away, Kenta was left feeling shattered and broken, but when Kim kisses him, it's almost like something slots into place for Kenta. Like he realizes that he's finally on the same page as someone else, even if he doesn't know what to do with that just yet.
