DIY: Cactus String Art | Easy Dorm Decor Idea 🌵🌵
If you can’t already tell, I love cacti! Sure IRL they can totally prick you and stuff but pretty much any other iteration of cacti is adorable! Being from the the only state with saguaro cacti, I thought this cactus string art project was the appropriate decor for my Arizona home. This would also make a great gift and you can use this same technique for nearly any other design.
Watch my video to see how I made this!
Supplies: - Block of wood - Embroidery floss - Wire nails - Hammer - Cactus Template - Sandpaper (Optional) - Clear Gloss Spray (Optional)
How to: 1. OPTIONAL STEP: Prep block of wood by sanding smooth and coat with clear gloss spray. Let dry. 2. Tape cactus template to block of wood. 3. Mark dots along template about every 1/2". 4. Begin hammering nails into dots all along cactus outline. 5. After all nails are in place, peel off template. 6. Tie end of string onto one nail towards the base. 7. Begin weaving string all along nails, making sure not to cross too much distance at once. 8. When complete, tie off string and trim off any string "tails".
