Thoughts on Strict Mixing Policies
A big thing that annoys me about some DJ ideologies is this belief that only certain songs will mix. I'll give credit to the belief that some songs are harder to mix together than others, or harder to mix from one to the other, but the task certainly isn't impossible. In my opinion, anyone who says two songs can't mix simply hasn't figured out how to do it yet, and their inefficiency as a DJ is showing. I'm not trying to say it's easy. I'm not pretending that mixing Strawberry Fields with Rubber Johnny is a cake walk. What I am saying is that the ability to mix makes a DJ good, and the ability to mix The Beatles with Aphex Twin is what turns a good DJ into a God of the dance floor.
so much disco to sample omg, like whooooaaa.
Also, this is my favorite picture of me DJing (not from the same gig as last night. Just haven't posted it to Tumblr yet. This was Nightmare Night at the Fridge)
