The First 100 Shows: The Acknowledgments
This is a little late. I am having computer issues at home. But, this is (most) of the "Acknowledgements" segment from Last Call in the Second Half of the look back at the First 100 Shows, that was supposed to air on WCRS last night, but due to an unresolved issue with the WCRS-FM playlist, the first half aired. However, you can listen to both Parts 1 and 2 at http://www.wcrsfm.org. I edited out the laughtracks and the "Super Bowl Prediction Teaser" from the acknowledgements. The rest of the segment is an edited version of what is in Part 2. Part 2 was a look back at Columbus and the 200Columbus: The Bicentennial, and the show's regular beatdowns of Ohio State sports.
Hopefully, Part 2 (only) may air again in the Spring. The next 7 weeks (including the first two bye weeks of 2014) are booked for the show. The nearest bye weeks are March 24, April 21, and May 26.
Here is a script of the acknowledgements, or what it was supposed to be, below from last night's show (Part 2):
100 shows. It may not sound like a lot, but there has been a lot on the last 100 shows. We blew 200 candles off a big birthday cake in Columbus, celebrated 30 years of MTV, three Bryan Awards Ceremonies, which really don't count towards the 100 shows, Christmas in July Road Trip, Christmas in July in Olympic Village, Christmas Songs from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1980s. I've let the Jolly Old Fat Guy from the North Pole and the Missus guest host. St. Patrick's Day in the Emerald Isle along the I-270 outerbelt. Arts Festival. I-D US. Tours in German Village and Olde Towne East. Biff and Raff talking Oscars, Tonys, and Emmys. The last two hours, Show # 103 was a complete and utter disaster. (Laughtrack Edited Out) So much, that on January 27, the show will air again. (Laughtrack Edited Out) I feel like I have accomplished more than taking my SEO Speedwagon to the shop to get it up a notch. I have jumped leaps and bounds in Search Engine Optimization after Aunt Mary said things that I can't repeat on the air, but I got the point.
This is the "Acknowledgements" part of the show. This is probably worse than an Oscar acceptance speech, but what of it? (Applause Edited Out)
First go to my parents for, well since this is a family-friendly radio station, so there isn't anything I can say, except thanks for letting me fill up the hard drive on the computer behind your backs
Second, the professors and classmates from 33 Collegeview. Without that place, there wouldn't be this show. There wouldn't be the life lessons. What is White Balance? It is where you make sure that the color is balanced. (Bell Sound Effect Edited Out) I've made a complete Otterbein 180 in the eight years since I first landed in the quiet, peaceful, and dry village. Would I have gone anywhere else? Maybe, the University of Michigan, so I would have a valid reason to hate Ohio State. But, I wouldn't have gone anywhere else.
Third, Simply Living, whom let me volunteer at their radio station when it was still their radio station, back when it was in a tiny little room in what is probably now a hosh-posh apartment loft in Clintonville, and to the Neighborhood Network for keeping it their mission to keep community radio alive and well in the Capital City. And to the current and past crop of WCRS Volunteers who keep WCRS on the air and streaming 24/7.
Fourth, to my fan club. Apparently there is a The DJBC Happy Hour fan club. These ladies have listening parties every Monday night, and then watch "Mike and Molly" afterwards. (Laughtrack Edited Out)
Fifth, to the Facebook fans of the show. Thank you for liking the show, and keep on, keep on, keep on listening.
Sixth, to Brady Hoke, for installing the Clock in 2011. Now that you got rid of Al "Bad Apple" Borges and replaced him with dude from Alabama, is it possible to re-install the Clock in 2014, since it worked so well in 2011 against the Buckeyes?
Seventh, to my Career Coach. All nine of them. Yes, I worked with nine career coaches. (Laughtrack Edited Out) Either I am too demanding, or everyone had something to offer to the table that was vital to my career growth that got stunted after 12 years of homeschooling.
Eighth, to former OSU Coach John Cooper. My grandmother is looking down still angry about the 2, 10, and 1 record against Michigan. For that alone, I thank you for choking against Michigan. Bobby Bowden, Steve Spurrier, and Tom Osborne thanked you years ago.
Ninth, to the YP Community in Columbus. We are fierce, we are strong, and we are visible.
Tenth, to my brothers. We all live in a yellow submarine. Yellow submarine. Yellow submarine.
Eleventh, to my past, present, and future co-workers. What Happens In Break Room and Water Cooler, stays in Break Room and Water Cooler.
Twelfth, Shout-outs to everyone whose energy I have fed off of for years. The next 97 shows are going to be a whole hell of a lot better than this, I promise you. Otherwise, I'll suit up to play Quarterback for the Buckeyes, despite the fact that I have as much college eligibility now as Johnny Manziel. (Laughtrack Edited Out)
And last, but not least, it is time to be serious. There is one person that makes me smile that is truly an inspiration to me as a person, and she truly defines adversity and strength, and is perhaps one of my favorite people in the world. And to that, I thank you for being you.
