DJD Fest 2022 - Rules and Prompts!

Here we go, folks!  Our 2022 DJD Fest prompts, as voted by you!  As with last year, feel free to use the character prompt, the theme prompt, or both, and feel free to switch things up.  It’s your Fest, so follow your bliss!

Rules are below the cut - please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

*these were separate prompts from two different contributors, and I felt they were similar enough to group together but I didn’t want to lose the nuance!

Rules and FAQs

Our prompt fest will run 24 April - 30 April.  Just a few reminders:

The event, this blog, and the Twitter account are all 18+.

Please make sure that any content you post includes tags/warnings as appropriate (including, but not limited to, any violence, gore, or sexual content).

Each day will have a character prompt and a theme prompt.  You can use either or both for a given day - or combine them, mix them around, whatever you’d like!

OCs and canon characters outside the DJD are all fine to include.  You’re also welcome to explore AUs, or to create content about a DJD member before or after their time in the DJD.  Basically, as long as your piece focuses on at least one DJD member - at any point in their existence - you’re golden.

Humanformers are totally fine (as are reimaginings of our DJD friends as aliens, mermaids, or ice cubes - hands up, anyone old enough to get the ice cube reference ;)).

Please tag your creations #djdfest and/or @djdfest, and share them here or on Twitter, and I will try and make sure I reblog/retweet them.  If you think I’ve missed your creation, feel free to give me a heads up - but please allow at least 24 hours first (time zones being what they are).

This illustration was supposed to be ready for the DJD Fest but I was very busy with the office. Topic aside, Tarn is one of my favorite characters, although he appears for a very short time I love how he is so contradictory, multifaceted, psychopath ... murderer ... torturer ... in short, he is a good character and literally uses the decepticon logo as a mask. How can you not love him?

He's not very happy about it.

Answers About DJD Fest!

Welcome to the official Tumblr for the upcoming DJD prompt fest!  I’ll be looking to finalise dates hopefully within the next week; in the meantime, a little more about what you can expect to see, and answers to some of the questions and suggestions people brought up on the interest-gauging post.

How it’ll work:  You share your creations here or on Twitter, either tagging the DJD Fest accounts or using specified hashtags, or all of the above. :)  I will endeavour to share everything through this account and @DJDFest on Twitter.

There will be two prompts for each day of our DJD week - a character prompt (conveniently, there have been seven total members of the DJD over the course of its existence, one for each day!) and a thematic prompt.  You do not need to use both; you can use one or the other, or combine them, whatever your heart desires.

Fair warning that I’m inclined to make the Fest 18+ only; given the nature of the DJD and the source material, I don’t think it’s fair or realistic to ask people to keep all their creations kid-friendly.  That said, I will ask that everyone please tag their creations appropriately, and I won’t be sharing posts that don’t have sufficient warnings for their content.

And now, on to specific questions:

Yup!  As long as it features one or more members of the DJD in significant roles, it counts.  OCs are fine to include, other canon characters are fine to include.

ckret2 said: If you’re taking ideas, I’m gonna suggest one day be shattered glass themed for entirely selfish “I’m full of SG DJD headcanons and need an excuse to inflict them on the world in the form of fanfic” reasons.

That’s an excellent idea!  I’ll probably make that prompt something a bit more general, like “shattered”, so it can be an invitation for Shattered Glass!DJD content or something creators interpret more metaphorically if they’re not comfortable doing Shattered Glass.

Prompt: Tarn, Transformation Main Character(s): Tarn, Vos, Starscream, minor Kaon Pairing(s): N/A Other Characters: N/A Rating: Teen Tags: Starscream is awful, Tarn is Easily Provoked, Bullying, Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Verbal Abuse, Misuse of Outlier Ability, Cybertronian cursing, Minimal Editing Summary: Laying on Tarn's desk when he returns to his office is a datapad that doesn't belong there. Belonging there even less are the contents of the datapad.
