I swear I don't remember Vader's lightsaber fighting style being so smack-heavy. He's moving that blade around like it's a baseball bat or perhaps a rolled up newspaper whacking a bug. WHACK WHACK WHACK

It was that time of year for the sun to wreak havoc on Coruscant to where even the air felt stifling. You were thankful to be inside the Jedi Temple where you had the technology to be kept cool. It allowed you to train with your master, which would otherwise have been impossible if you were subjected to the weather, and yet you still found yourself blinking as a drop of sweat dripped down from your forehead and into your eye.
You continued to parry Obi-Wan’s attacks, even with your muscles on fire and your throat dry, no doubt dehydrated as all of your body’s water was working to cool you down on the outside.
Meanwhile, your master looked perfect as ever. The only sign of exertion was his hair, pushed back from his face and held out of the way by his sweat, and even then, it looked…good. Usually, you would’ve beaten him or he would’ve called off your training by now, but he was only doing what you asked.

LIGHTSABER COMBAT - FORM V: SHIEN / DJEM SO
AKA The Perseverance Form or The Way of the Krayt Dragon.
“One must question any discipline that has lethal potential. However, if it serves to suppress violent opposition and preserve peace, I believe it is a discipline worth knowing.”
Simply put, what Form III had as passive, Form V turned into active.
Okay, not that simple.
Form V was born when practitioners of Form III, Soresu, felt that their ‘ultimate defense’, though effective, was just too much time-consuming. Taking inspiration from Form II, the elegant slices and maneuverability of Makashi, Form V was created.
Form V is defense without sacrificing offense. It’s not just counter-attacking, but countering and pressing forward, dominating the opponent until they make a mistake.
There are two variations of Form V:
Shien, which is the Form V focused on reflecting blaster shots against their origin…
… and Djem So, focused on reflecting the momentum of a lightsaber back at the enemy.
Positive Aspects: not as agile as Form IV, not as passive as Form III, not as light-hitting as Form II, Form V is the one that best uses the reaches of the user without sacrificing his/her defenses, with powerful close-quarters swings for both striking and blocking.
Negative Aspects: both Shien and Djem So modes physically require much more from their users than the other lightsaber forms, due to its focus on complete domination of their opponents.
Form V practitioners are always on the move, always expecting to rebuke and attack and charge against their enemies - so, though not as aggressive as Ataru, Form V was still more violent than the previous forms.
That is why it’s said that Form V is “peace through superior firepower”.
Form V, also known by its two guiding principles Soresu and Djem So, was a lightsaber fighting technique. At its core, Form V used bold attacks to turn an opponent’s defense against them, whether by deflection or dueling. Form V was Anakin Skywalker’s not-so-subtle form of choice.
