Well this is an interesting question. I’ll still try to answer though, so, I think eric put on a mask to everyone, even in his journals he couldn’t be himself fully.
he probably did want to seem more “tough and dominant” since he figured the media would get a hold of his journals.
he was an insecure guy, and it’s very well possible his journal entries about sex are just to seem less like a loser or a joke, so he probably was a sub along with dylan.

Did Eric suffer more than Dylan?
his image suffered more after they died but i think during their lives it said people were more ‘intimidated’ by dylan bc of his height. eric was an easier target because he was shorter. there is an idea of dylan’s relationship with his mom, but id like to know more about eric’s dynamics. it’s really a shame his mother didn’t come forward like sue did but completely understandable. editing this bc i barely answered the question but tbf i think eric suffered a bit more, he was more angry and that caused him to suffer more after his death, while dylan was seen as a follower who got manipulated by eric.
